Girths

My horse has some scarring round the girth area, she much prefers the Stubben soft cord humane girths.

Thank you both. Do Professionals Choice have different styles or is it just the one? I will try and source some of both brands here in NZ before resorting to UK saddlers!!

What do you find to be the most 'horse friendly' girth available?
I'm a bit of a cheapskate. I like the Cottage Craft-type fabric girths which can be washed in the wm regularly. I have a leather three fold girth (made specially so not a well-known make) which I bought to use with my side saddle but it has a tendency to rub so only use it with a sheepskin tube. I was lucky enough a few years back to pick up some end-of-line fabric "Wychbold" girths (fabric with loops which you can use to thread your side saddle balance girth and over-girth through to stop them slipping.) Sadly they are no longer made.

Having said that can I nominate my most hated girth?those synthetic girths with the "air holes" in them. I hate them with a passion. They are almost impossible to clean properly and they crack and get very uncomfortable for the horse yet you see them being used in a delapidated state every day even, I might add, on a local riding school.
