Hi

My saddler has recommended I try the prolite anatomic performance girth (the fairfax style) for my jump saddle as my mare has big shoulders and forward girth grove, however I am going to be competing with studs in the summer so need to protect her belly!!
I can't decide if the prolite covers enough or not and if not can you lovely people recommend a suitable alternative? Don't want to be spending the earth if I can avoid it!!

I don't use one, but have seen them and I wouldn't be happy using it instead of a stud girth tbh.

I use the Stubben Equi Soft stud girth which is brilliant, but more pennies again unfortunately!

Well fairfax do a stud girth but it is mega bucks!

Lots of stud girths are nicely shaped, prestige do a nice leather one for not too bad money

You don't always need a stud girth if using studs in front - I don't have one for my horse. He dislikes them, and I use small enough studs in front that they wouldn't do any damage if he did hit himself. He hasn't hit himself in over 5 years of eventing though :p

On last horse I used a attachable stud protection onto his normal girth, but it gave him such bad rubs & sores that I never used it again!

Horses are so different, both my girls have clipped themselves on the tummy without studs so they wear stud girths whenever jumping except hunting where we have to risk it!!!
