im being very weak...

i really like the horse i went to see the other day and keep rewatching ther videos-and am half tempted to ring up and see if hes sold..do you think it would be incredibly rude of me.....i do half feel like we may have insulted her for the offer we gave on the horse.....although shes priced it purely on the fact she wants to make a profit in reality.

Kerilli-no i havent seen any others..tbh theres not much iv seen that is worth going to look at-in some ways im worried about getting something that has done nothing as its a big risk to see if they will come to anything, and then on the other hand i cant afford something with a fairly good record ....

i feel like it is a bit low we said around 7.5k..she was asking 9k...but i guess in a way thats wot he is worth to us...if he went happily over a few small xc type fences and seemed to enjoy it maybe he would be worth around 8k.
i did say before we went to see him we were not prepared to pay 8.5k for him

argh i dont know..i know he is the first but i just got on well with him that day...considering i have only ridden millie for the last 3 years i didnt make any cock ups like i thought it would..i dotn know-im feeling a bit depressed about the whole hore buying thing-iv only been looking about 3 weeks:(
 
No harm in making a phone call. IMO your offer is not too low at all. Go on ring her! I've been wondering if you've heard anything!

hehe ok..i shall have a chat with the parents when they come back-afterall its their money!!

i mean i mite take him xc and he hates it and is a complete wimp and wont jumpa 2ft log...or i mite ride him again and hes actually a nutter-who knows but i woukld like to find out!

is everyones general opinion that they like the look of him?
 
why dont you get someone else to call up for you - is the advert for the horse still about ????

See what she says about the eventing things again to someone else if she still says oh yes he is an eventer xx
 
yes i have been thinking about that-just to see if he is still for sale..thing is she has people coming at the weekend, so it might be worth waiting til after then
 
they are out there, and you are looking at the best time of year for getting one reasonably.
my mare (7 yr, ex-race, good NH breeding, 16.3) had done 3 PNs clear xc, 0, 4, 8 sj (seen the vid though, looked fine, no nightmares there i think), dressage was the sticking point, just a bit tense, not ridiculous. she had what i thought was a sensible price of £7.5k, and i got her for less than that. just saying that there are nice horses out there with sensible price tags. you just have to spend the time sifting through them all... thank god for the internet, can do that at home now in comfort rather than having to view 30, which age and shrink before you get to see them, in some cases!

hehe i know i should be excited there is another one that looks quite ncie she was supposed to send photos yesterday-also mostly show jumped but has schooled round xc fences and seems a nice boy-we shall see:)

Yeah love him. Real powerhouse. Looks like an advanced event type. As I said before just worried about the warmblood brain thing.
 
yes that was my main worry-i really should have asked about that BEFORE i went to see him..so that i wouldnt have been so negative while i was riding him ...as its quite split opinion as to whether they are up to the job....
we shall see:)
 
Gorgeous!! I wouldve snapped him up myself if he was a) 15.3 hands not 17.2 and b) deffo brave about XC ! oh and c) if I had a penny to my name haha.

But he looks like he has a really sensible and genuine head on him. What were his eyes like?
 
yeh i do really like him..but then i feel silly as its the 1st one i have seen!!

his eyes were pretty normal...quite kind not white eyed or anything...im not used to a warmblood type head and my dad (who bases everything abaout horses on looks:p) said they stuck out a bit...but i thought he was lovely!!

Just ring you havent got anything to lose? Just enquire if they had, had any time to consider the offer that you made for him, that way you will at least know one way or another!

Don't be afraid of buying the first you see, you know when it feels right adn whether he's the right one for you! When I bought my boy I'd only seen one other and he certainly wasn't for me, when I sat on Bren I just knew he was 'the one'!! If I'd seen Bren first I still would've bought him!

Give her a call and see what she says. If he's still there then get yourself round there and have another sit and jump some XC style jumps, you'll get an idea of his attitiude then as he won't have seen such fences before. Is there a water tray there you could use as an open ditch??

there wasnt anything remotly scary to jump as i did have a quick look!! i would ideally like to just see what he reacts like to water/a ditch etc...we shall give a call and i will let you know-may well leave it wil monday as she definatly had people coming to see him at the weekend
 
I think ring her up, ask if you can go and try again. Just so that you know the horse a bit better at least before you make your final decision. As I said previously, put up a corner and an narrow fence and jump things on angles. Really test him out!
 
Ditto what Boss says. Doesn't need to be scary, just diff to his normal schooling jumps so you get an idea of how he behaves when things aren't 'just so'!!
Also, ask yourself if you 'loved him' when you rode him, if not then maybe he's not for you??? I was always told:
'buy what you see not what will be'
and think that speaks volumes and always have that in the back of my head when looking at horses.
