Chloe has always been in regular work, since I got her September 06 (bar a week or so here and there because of scrapes and cuts etc..) She is ridden 5 times a week, and is pretty fit. She does everything, although she is not ridden extremely hard on her 'work' days, apart from the odd xc day or hunting.
My GCSEs are roughly May - June. I will be able to see her even less then I already am. But she would be kept ticking over by 3 or 4 days light work, so she begins to wind down from slightly harder work.
Then, from July to 1 week into August (roughly), my plan would be for her to go away somewhere, for a holiday. Sort of out 24/7, and some chill time for her to relax, and maybe even get a bit bored.
It would be hard for her to stay in regular work during that time anyway - I'm away, and the girl who rides her during the week could be away too.
I think it would be very beneficial for her, as although she doesn't do anything too taxing, she can get frustrated with schooling etc, and I think it would be good for her mentally. I also think it would keep her 'sweet' and happy in her work when she would come back up into harder work.
she is going to be kept at a nearby livery yard near the boarding school which I'm going to for my two 6th form years - it is about 10 mins away, and, having spoken to the school, they are positive I will be able to ride fairly regularly. She would be exercised and built up to hunting fit throughout Sept onwards, and we'd hunt and do as much as I can fit in.
She would need to be moved 2 week before school starts, to the new yard, to get her settled in, and just to start working her a bit more towards Sept, which is when my first term starts (around 6th Sept)
So, what do you think of the general plan? Are there yards or any places out there, who have the sort of temporary holiday arrangement?
Any thoughts/tips/advice appreciated,
Thanks.
