giving horse more ommph?

Red Cell is fantastic for adding ommph - there are two levels you can feed it at, 60 ml for horses in training (race horses) or those who are slightly anaemic and 30 ml for others. I would just give 30 ml a day and you should start to see more energy in a couple of days

I'm not sure how long you can feed it for - I tend to only need it in the summer competition season as I can't give him any hard feed as he gets too fat and find without a bottle over the summer he does get anaemic. maybe best to check with the company and/or your vet

Why not give him a few oats? I only give mine a very small quantity, but just a tiny amount just gives him a bit more "go" without being silly.

Equisup all the way ! Better hold tight though

The problem with red cell is that horses secrete a lot of iron, and so its not always a good thing to be pumping red cell into them, it's actually rare for a horse to be anaemic, so before using an iron supplement it may be better to get a blood test done!

I use oats, and feed competition mix, however I was speaking to a friend who has been an equine nutritionalist for 15 years and she said for me to use racehorse mix to wake my horse up (he's been on it before and it didnt do a great deal!) and to feed an hour before you intend to ride, otherwise the energy's all gone if you leave it all day, or don't feed till after!!

Hope I helped!

-another Oats person here, havent found the correct level yet though so shes still lacking in oomph..

Still- its all guess work until i can find the happy medium.

oats aswell! Im giving a mug and half a day and its enough for extra oomph without being silly. still working out the right amount to give but so far so good!! He has gone from sluggish and hard to get going to more enthusiastic and easier to get going and feels more forward to (though have to say he did put a few bucks in the other day but enjoyed himself however!!)
