My yorkie x (looks like a yorkie) is looking a mess so im giving her a hair cut, she may not look much better after though, depends if she keeps still long enough :o :D
Do you cut your dogs hair yourself or do they go to what i call a pooch parlor?

Henry goes to the barbers but I am steeling myself to buy clippers and start doing it myself - it costs too much! (I know there is a good reason it is expensive, groomers of AAD, but I am skint, so don't go all yelling at me):D

Iv been cutting her hair myself since i bought her as a puppy (well when it grew too long) and she is nearly 3.
I don't even use clippers, i use grooming scissors. I would send her somewhere to have it done but i know she wouldn't like it.

It depends on how I wanted it grooming. If it were a case of clipping it in some sort of fashion for the dog and my benefit I'd do it myself, if it needed to be a posh-do for a show I'd take it to a posh groomer.
I am well practised in the standard, any variety, short ack and sides dog clip :D :D

I just need to know where to get clippers from - I seem to remember I asked this before and people were telling me to get a £90 set:eek:

My very first Border Terrier had bit of doo stuck to his rear and instead of doing the sensible thing and just snip it off with scissors, I decided, in a moment of complete and utter madness, to remove the offending piece of shonk with the beard trimmer attachment on my husbands shaver. I was a little over-zealous and poor boy ended up with a very sore bot. Had to make a trip to and explain to (very bearded) vets, explain to husband how dog had ended up with a sore bot and subsequent vet bill and explain and incur the wrath of my mother-in-law - who's a pro dog groomer:o

Don't be such stooges:rolleyes: and get them mutts to the groomers:p I have had some yorkies in that the owners attempted to do..........well I say no more, I had a good laugh though:D:D one poor little mite had one of his ear snipped off:eek:
You have to be very careful with the thin skinned little pooches they are easy to nick and cut in the untrained hand:p
All dogs get used to the groomers, a good groom will make sure they go steady and they are far quicker than you:D:D
I jsut bought some new clippers aswell, they cost me £125, no cheapies for me:p:p:p you get the quality you pay for:p:D

Yes, but I don't have to pay for all his haircuts all at once!

I haven't got £90:( If I had, I would have boots that don't let water in:(

I would send Cassie to a groomers to have her hair cut but would want somewhere recommended as she can be nervous. We sent our lab to a groomers once and he couln't get out fast enough (this is a dog who gets excited going to and at the vets) and he hasn't been back since.

None of mine particularly like it but its an hour out of their lives, they get over it!
