Glasgow people - advice needed re livery

Lawmarnock is actually a further drive than Wardhouse (you have to drive past Wardhouse to get to it unless you go via Bridge of Weir).

I wouldn't recommend Fordbank - I drive past it every day, the turnout is not in nice fields and seems very limited (and wet).

Jackson says hello, by the way, and that he would love to see his wee HiPo pal again, but since we're still on grass livery it's no good to you :D

I will forget about Fordbank then, I need reasonable turnout in winter.

He would love to see Jackson again, I definitely got the impression he was looking for him and Pony a few times.

I do like Wardhouse but I have been told it's a very long walk to the geldings field, which means my mother would be able to do less for health reasons and I would have to pay for turnout and catch in 5 days out of 7. Although the idea of my mother not trying to negotiate busy gateways and barging horses is a huge plus! For us, everywhere will be a long walk after 3.5 years approx 10 seconds from the field gate!

According to the map Lawmarnock is approx 3/4 mile on from Warehouse, so not too bad. Wish I knew where I am going to end up, so I could get on with moving now!

I keep my horse at Wardhouse and can highly recommend that yard. If you have any questions about it I'm happy to answer them via pm :)

You know my friend then ;) She works there. I did like Wardhouse when I was there before, although I was grass livery then so nowhere near the yard. I know they've got 2 schools but the indoor is small - do you ever find you can't ride when you want to because there's a lesson going on in the outdoor?

And how far away is the geldings field/what's the path like to get to it? The description I heard previously (not from my friend) was that you had to go down the back of a housing estate to get to it, or something like that? What with my mum's health and my poor night vision I think I would have to pay for catch in during winter weekdays!

If I had a mare, I wouldn't be dithering much, since their field is much nearer apparently!

(there's also the fact I have to convince my OH he wants to leave the east end and move to the west side of the city, so that I am nearer work and nearer the better yards, but that's another story)

Thanks :)

Oh... who is your friend? (pm maybe)

The mares field is just next to the stable block (great as I have a mare). But it is not that bad to get to the geldings field tbh. It is not a housing estate you go through it's merely past the yard owners house. The path is well maintained and easy to walk. It does get a bit wet when it rains but there is no knee high mud. I quite enjoy the walk when I put my friends horse out in the morning :) It takes me about 10 minutes to the field and back with a slow moving horse. If your mum would drive to the yard to put your horse out it might be cheaper to get staff to put out in the morning. I'm also sure you could join my turn out/bring in crew ;)

The indoor is quite small, I only use it to lunge in on days when the weather is really bad. I have never not been able to use the outdoor school, although sometimes you have to share it obviously.

I live in Glasgow area myself and it takes me 15-20 minutes to get to the yard. Have you been up to see it at all? You really should, it is hard to do it justice like this
