Hi

Does anyone have experience of equine glaucoma please?

One of my 17 year old Appaloosa x PBA eyes went cloudy overnight in February, vet called next day , thought he had poked something in it, anti-biotic drops for one week. Didn't clear up. Has since had various drops , tests etc and has seen the specialist. Early last month diagnosed with glaucoma , pressure was 35( should be 15-21) and after 3 weeks on Azarga and pred had changed very little.

Now on Azarga( 2 x per day), pred (1x) and Latanoprost(2x) spread out across the day.

Eye is still cloudy, oedema and slightly bulging. Been told drops or laser can only save it for 1-2 years, although I'm not hopeful we'll save it that long at all.
His sight seems fine and doesn't appear to be any pain and he is not being ridden ( is on paddock rest for lameness issues).

Seeing our usual vet on Monday and specialist eye vet early July when he will have had new drops for a month to recheck the pressure and then decide what to do.

Any experiences/advice please? good or bad , thank you

Hi, This came up on a search.

My horse has been diagnosed with glaucoma today. In for the next week, lots of drops and have to send pics to vet on Wednesday.

How did your horse get on?
