I have used it before and found it quite effective - however my mare does dislike the taste - I now mix it with a small amount of mix and then give her her feed after - if I just mixed it with chaff she would refuse to eat it! It does smell really strong - so if you have a fussy eater it might not be any good.
I use a lot of their stuff - including the bute X. My mare won't eat bute - kicks the bowl out! - but will eat this and it seems to do the job. I know a lot of people say their horses won't eat GH stuff but I have never had a problem and always go straight in with the highest dose required - mind you both of mine are greedy (one a cob and one a wb)
Really worried about their stuff as there are no ingredients listed anywhere, either in the brochure or on the packaging. I compete my boys affiliated and need to know exactley what im feeding them.
Im using Devils relief , it is a similar product and is cheaper £15 for 50 days supply and all the ingredients are listed on the bottle!
I tried ringing them last week to find out the ingrediants as I couldnt find a list anywhere, not on t'internet or anything.... I got a free sample of Bute-X but no ingrediants listed. I will not feed a product unless I know whats in it especially with my cushings gelding and my brand new horsie who is sugar intolerant. I couldnt g.et an answer on the phone, does anyone else know? The only things that i could think of that could be in it were cinnamon, boswelia or willow which I think are all anti-inflamatory .... just guessing in the dark here though
I rang Global Herbs last week to order some Bute X but they have now changed the name to Alphabute as they have added a sweetener to it as they were getting reports some horses would not eat it readily. The new mix does actually taste very sweet and I am planning on ringing again to see what the extra ingredient is as I am using it on a Cushing's horse. When I asked what the main ingredient of the old Bute X was Boswellia was mentioned. In researching natural pain relief I also came across Substibute by Net Tex. They did tell me what the ingredients were. Think it was circumin and turmeric.
I'm assuming Global Herbs don't put the ingredients on as it'd be too easy to buy the main ingredients separately and make it up yourself more or less the same?
I am just guessing at this so probably wrong!
They are about to re label all their products with the ingredients, at least thats what I was told when I spoke to them the other day, if you ask them outright they will tell you but to be honest they're herbs i've not heard of so it didn't mean an awful lot.
I use the TB calmer & acid-x both of which are fantastic, I usually get a tub of mint to mix in when I start one of their supplements and find that hides it pretty well.
Boswellia is one of the main ingredients in bute-x, and I find it much more effective than devils claw and it it far gentler on the stomach long term.
Bute-X contains frankinsense and ginger, amongst other things. They do state in their catalogues, (well they used to anyway) what the contents are, but in their latin plant name form. I rate it 100%. My mare went from being too stumbly even in walk to ride safely, to carting me up the side of the field, ie. normal!!, in just one week. I could well believe the advertising that it works within the hour, but Old Fussy Chops had to have it introduced a pinch at a time and it took several days to get her up to the correct dose.
I have used many of their products. They will tell you what they contain if you ring up and have given me fantastic advice in the past. Their laminitis prone liquid is amazing in my opinion and helped me to get a very poorly pony back on its feet and out in a small paddock. Use it constantly and results aer great.
