I have bought a tub of Bute X for my mare. She is arthritic & the vet supplies bute. I want to change from bute & was going to use Devils Claw, but it said it can take up to 3 weeks to work. The Bute X said it works in one hour. Has anyone one used it on here & if so, what did you think to do. There is no ingredients listed on the tub at all. I am going to phone & ask them what it is made up from.
I would love to know if anyone as used it before & how good it worked & what you think of Bute X.
Many thanks inadvance.

Hi Tezzy, yes I've used it and I think it is brilliant. I can't say it works within the hour, but that is just because my horse is super-fussy and it smells very pungent, so I had to build her up to a full dose over a week, butI can absolutely truthfully say that in a week my mare went from stumbling so much I didn't think it was safe to ride her, to cantering (sideways) up the field on the way home from a hack. Her stumbling was reduced to almost nothing. Its main ingredients are ginger and frankinsense - it smells like Catholic Mass!!! These ingredients are both medically proven to help human arthritis because they increase blood flow.

I like that fact that you can phone the vet who owns GH. I have done so more than once and he was very kind and helpful.

Recent tubs of Global herbs stuff has started to list ingredients. You will also find Frankincense called Boswellia, I just buy it straight from natural horse supplies.

Thank you all so much for answering. I phoned today & a lovely chap spoke to me. He couldn't pronounce the ingredients lol so he is sending me a list of them out in the post. He said they all Indian herbs & all natural.
He even asked me what breed the horse was & how many hands. I said English Cob & is 14 hands. He said to use 3 scoops of the Bute X in her feed.

How may scoops do you use in your feed & does anyone water it down & use it in a syringe at all?
I want to stop feeding her soon. I also use Cosequin & have only been using that for the last month.
Many thanks again.

Hmm, my girl is 15.1hh and Welsh D x although, doesn't have the build to match, and I was using two scoops per day (1 in each feed) - the instructions should be on the side of the tub. I think you would struggle to dissolve it to be honest. It is ground to a very fine powder - just taking the lid off can cause some to go everywhere, and I think it would clog a syringe. I would add it to a false feed of something low calorie if you want to keep the weight down - never a problem with my girl! Perhaps one day they will do it as a liquid, rather than just a powder, like many of the other products.
