Hellair all!
I am looking for a pair of reasonably cheap warm waterproof gloves. Please reccomend me some!
Thanks! xx

I have a couple of pairs of sealskins one medium, and one large which I wear a pair of cotton pimple palms with. So far the medium ones on their own have been more than adequate for mucking out/riding/shoving bales about etc. When it gets colder I'll switch to the others. Neither are adequate for cycling home in much colder than about 3-4 degrees c.

Thing I've only learned recently though is that once they're wet (including from sweat on the inside), do not take them off unless a) you're not planning to put them back on until they're dry or b) you have somewhere to warm them. cause to put them back on....oh gods it hurts!!

I also find that my fingers are like ice with sealskinz. Only thing which works is ski gloves and keeping a spare pair with me for if they get wet.

I have 2 pairs of Sealskinz - the black unisex riding gloves and the pink ladies ones and they are toasty! The black ones are more bulky, but the ladies are warm, lightweight and waterproof and brilliant. I ride and wear them daily. I don't know if others are referring to Sealskinz traditional waterproof knitted gloves - they may not keep hands warm, but the riding ones whilst expensive are great imo

Woof Wear Precision Thermal, about £25. Also have a look at winter motorbike gloves as they cater for cold hands and have grippy palms for the handlebars. Keep an eye on Lidl and Aldi specials as they both have Equestrian and Motorcycle stuff (sometimes Ski stuff too) which is pretty good quality and cheap therefore you can buy several pairs!

I have sealskinz and they are pants!!! Only stayed waterproof for about a month and got a hole in within a week. Rubbish for the price, I think. Will never get any more, had 2 and both were the same :(

Now have MT gloves only just got them so not sure how good they are :)

I suffer terribly in the winter, and TBH nothing seems to help although the best gloves I found were a pair of neoprene and leather ones made by shires, however I think they were discontinued, but even then my hands were still very cold

I've just bought some cheapy fleece gloves, think they're Good Hands ones? They're supposed to be showerproof, not tried them yet (still using magic gloves!) but they seem reasonable quality, if a bit stiff. I have a pair of Sealskinz, they are waterproof even when the top layer tears (really easily:mad:) but they're only warm if your hands are when you put the gloves on. They won't warm you up. Best gloves I had, were Musto fleece ones. But I lost them :(

Anyone tried silk undergloves?

Hate my sealskinz with a passion.

I do love my silk undergloves and use them under anything to add warmth or on their own. They dry quickly too so if they get damp while doing water buckets etc then it isn't a disaster. You can keep them on when you take your gloves off or change them too so your hands stay warm.

I don't bother with waterproof gloves, and use rubber gloves for wet jobs if I don't want to get my hands wet and leather gloves if it is just a case of keeping rain out. Last winter I wore an old pair of primark leather gloves for yard work and rode in my normal gloves I used glove liners if needed for extra warmth. Generally I like string and leather gloves but in horrid weather I swap for a pair from decathlon that dry out quicker and are a bit warmer.

If I bought expensive gloves I'd lose one.

My finger tips split in the cold, wet and mud and I find the best thing is the thin latex gloves you can buy by the box full, worn under magic gloves or similar. I keep lots of pairs so magic gloves can be washed or binned as necessary and it certainly keeps my hands warm and stops those painful splits. Seems quite a cheap option as no worry of losing expensive gloves. (I work outdoors too.)

I wear them on top of tesco fleece gloves (£1.50).

Forget riding company branded gloves and get down to your local outdoors shop and look at gloves designed for the hills. Terra Nova Extremities gloves are brilliant, I have a pair of windproof gloves that I've used for iceclimbing in minus 20 and my hands are still with me!! They are still going strong and I've had them at least 15 years. They are not waterproof but they do waterproof gloves as well. Great range and equally suitable for riding as they are for mountaineering!
