I know BD states light coloured gloves but for a really local level comp, is it still ok to wear a pair of darker ones?

I'll be in tweed (as that's all I've got) with brown boots so white/cream surely is going to look awful?

Although the new rule expects BD affiliated riders to now wear light coloured gloves it is supposed the same thing will transfer to the unaffiliated classes, as most unaffiliated comps will run by BD rules!
Most unaffiliated venues will use BD listed judges so they will be expecting to see this change attire.
I compete at really local level comps too but will change to light coloured gloves.
Even if you wear tweed or navy/black jackets you should match your gloves with your breeches. This always gives a smarter look. I think this is why it has been asked for 'light coloured gloves' rather than specifically white ones as they would look rather daft against canary or beige breeches.
I wonder if anyone would be daring enough to wear light pink??lol

Hi

There has been another rule change regarding this

Rule 45 now states

Gloves must be worn, White, cream or light beige are prefered.

BD seem to have gone back on their ruling, there was a long post on the BD forum regarding this,

Just wonder how many judges know this rule change as not realy been advertised anywhere

Think there will be a few pair if light coloured gloves on e-bay!!!

Match the gloves to your jodphurs with a tweed jacket (so buff/canary/cream) and it looks ok and is permissable. This was actually a fashionable look in Intermediate Show Hunter classes a few years ago!
