Gloves that don't rip so easily

I've only used my 3 pairs of gloves a few times and only a few times because many get holes in em very quickly. I'm trying to find something that is worth its weight in gold and won't tear so easily.

Would much prefer wear gloves as my hands are also shredded from riding. Thank you!

I’ve had uvex roeckl and harry hall none of which have ripped… I’ve had a pair run through which I used for long reining and lunging but only after about a year or so

I used to use Roeckl but i refuse to pay the price now so I tried Uvex which are just as good in fit but last longer

eglove - had them nearly 2 years and still going strong. plus you can use your touch screen while wearing about 30 quid

I go the other way and use normal PU work gloves. They're good in that you can do fine buckles whilst wearing them, and they grip leather well even when wet.
My finger nails go through them in a few weeks, but they can be just thrown away since you can buy about 50 pairs for £20.

My roeckl's have lasted me years (although admittedly only wear them to compete in or when its really really cold..). I have some macwets too but find them slippy

I'm another that goes down the cheap / not marketed for riding route.

I rarely manage to kill a pair. I do lose the right one very often - I have a lot of spare lefts if anyone wants them!
Don't machine wash them on hot though- they turn into a sticky mess!

I have the Roeckl summerweight ones and they've lasted about 3 years so far. They're by far the most long-lasting of the ones I've tried. I also have a pair of leather Mark Todd winter gloves that I only wear in really cold weather as they're too warm, but they've lasted about 10 years albeit with limited use! I do wear the work type gloves for yard jobs though and have worn them to ride in too and they're fin for £1 a pair, if a bit chilly in winter.

Do you have SSG over there? I make a point of only buying their leather ones, which are still reasonably affordable compared to other brands. They've all lasted years and years (though my two main summer and winter pairs both need repairs this year). That said, I've had some luck picking up used pairs in the last couple of years, so I don't know if the quality is still the same as it was ~10 years ago.

If you're thinking summer weight, try cheap cycling gloves from Amazon. I bought 3 pairs in winter (probably £7 each) - one for me and one for each teenager. Of course they abandoned theirs so I stole them back and wore whichever pair was closest. My first pair went through on a finger after several weeks, the other 2 pairs are still ok with no rips and actually were warm enough except on the coldest days. The grips aren't in exactly the same place as riding gloves but were good enough.

SSG All weather gloves are really good, I use them for everyday riding and for my endurance rides so they do many miles before even showing any signs of wear.

Me too, but the last couple of pair I have had are not of the same quality, one pair started coming apart at the seams and both pairs started wearing after a few months. I ride a few times a week but often just on the buckle when hacking so not like they are getting hard use. will look at those EGloves.
