Unfortunately I can't remember who (sorry) but I'm sure someone on here has mentioned they have used glue on shoes before?

I'm considering these for one of mine who is currently barefoot but struggling with this hard ground, even just in the field (we're on clay and although we've rolled the fields, there are still parts that aren't as flat as I'd like them to be). He's got sidebone so the uneven ground gets to him more than it should usually, it seems.

I'd be really grateful for info/ experiences anyone on here has had with the plastic glue on shoes??

Thanks!

Have google for "Easywalker shoes". They are cheaper than imprints and can be nailed or glued on. All the information is on the site. A lady I know had great results using these when all other options had failed to help. Her horse was so bad (horrific quarter crack) that he was pretty much a pts case. The horse is now sound and in ridden work :)

i think Sarah_Jane used (or still uses) the Sigafoos ones, with success.
I tried the Imprint ones, and tbh I wish i'd never bothered... they cost an absolute fortune (don't even ask how much, i could cry at the thought of how much i wasted on them), each set didn't even stay on a month, cost £40 or £50 each to stick back on... and didn't do the horse any good. The last set were put on new as securely as possible the week before an event and the mare still lost one... with overreach boots on and small studs. I have the round on video and we never slipped or tripped, it just fell off.
so, not recommended, i'm sorry to say. :( :( :(

Thanks Sarah-Jane - think we'll give the sigafoo's a go! :) (tho I do wonder if the price I've been quoted for them is something on the high side - may I ask what you pay for them? - pm me if you'd prefer?)

Zuzan, thanks also for the info. I've tried the easyboot gloves and they have driven me nuts with coming off (tho to be fair I haven't tried taping them). I'm thinking maybe do a couple of cycles of the sigafoos to see what difference they make to his feet/ comfort levels and then back to barefoot, trying taping the gloves on if needs be for turnout purposes (tho fingers crossed by then we'll have actually had some rain, anyway, so no more need for boots or shoes as our clay field won't be set like slightly uneven concrete!!!).

Hiya, have used glue/tape on metal shoes on a youngster before that had terrible cracks and deformaties. He had them on for about three months when he was two.

I'm sorry I can't remember the name of them - however I was really pleased with them and they stayed on beautifully - even on a gangly two year old. He has now been broken and has just had his first normal shoes on - and has gone from having really appalling feet to feet that look normal. Though to add my farrier did say that he would not recommend them for continued use because these shoes had a mesh that attached to the hoof wall and essentially cannot let the feet breathe x
