I was hoping to have B on loan but unfortunately that isn't going to happen as I now have her going so well and nannying her owners new horse so perfectly she wants to hang on to her, typical eh!? However I still have as much to do with her as often as I wish which is brilliant.

After riding out the other day we were approacled by a lady who is moving and can't take her highland gelding with her. My friend can't take him as she already has far too many, and the more and more I think about this lad the more I think I'd quite like to take him on. She doesn't want anything for him, she just wants a good home, and he hasn't been ridden for 3 years since she had her children.

I really would love to go have a look, but know no matter how hairy and wild he is looking at the moment I'm going to fall in love with him and want him regardless!

Should I go have a look, or stay well away?? Sensible advice wanted please as I have a track record for taking on horses I feel sorry for!!

Think of the practicalities. Do you have the time, money and experience to take on a horse like this, which would essentially be a project horse? If so then what is the harm in having a look

Sounds like you really want to go and have a look and you may be a match made in heaven, so go on

Only thing i would add is that it's lovely she will give him to you but just pay her a small amount, even a £1, just so it's all legal and above board and she's got no come back.
Good luck, let us know what you decide......................................................................................................................................... ................................just thinking, how often does a horse fall in your lap like that, amazing

I do really want to go, but as I said, I know that I'll take him regardless! I do love the schooling and bringing on horses for other people I am doing at the moment but it just isn't the same as having your own and I miss it so very much.

Yeah I have already discussed with my friend about making some form of payment, she's currently in a bit of a situation with one she's took on without payment but thats a completely different story!!

You lot are naughty...you really should be talking me out of this!!

If he is a nicely bred Highland and he is not too pushy - you could have a lot of fun with him. I have a Highland gelding his previous owner thought he was a plod but in fact he is a lively but well behaved ride and bomb proof in traffic.

Have a look

Went hacking with my friend today, who has already been to have a look at him out of curiosity...and aparently he is absoloutley stunning! Rather fat at the moment, but a handsome lad never the less and has done to lot, loves jumping, perfect to hack.....I am going to see him in the week as we were out hacking for nearly 3 hours and it was too late!
