Sorry we have been rather quiet on here recently, not to much going on tbh with the cancellation of Horseheath 2 we havent evented since LD2 which was my last report
So quick update before we give a download of our latest eventing exploits!!
Since LD 2 not too much has happened, lots of hacking, heston bale jumping! a bit of schooling and a fair amount of SJ. We headed out to some clear rounds and unaff 90/1m rounds and also made our discovery debut at BS! The unaff rounds went well suffered a bit with 4 faultitus but i was absolutely hanging so im blaming the alcohol on that one! BS went even better ended up 2nd in the british novice and just had the 1 down in the jump off of the discovery so i was super pleased with how he's been jumping lately! Here's some pics of my 2 fav boys in the recent weeks! I'm extremely pleased with how the bear is looking, he's starting to look and feel like the old bear again
Stubbles!!
Jumping clear round the 1m clear round!

In between all the pony playing i signed myself up for a 4K open water swim challenege.... ****ing stupid idea!! it was one hell of a challenge, the weather was ****, i had an ear infection and a cold and the weather was ****..... none the less i just about survived it and somehow managed to complete it in 1hr50! since then however i have been dying! The ear infection resulted in a trip to hospital urgent care
and 3 lots of anitbiotics
which dont seem to be working
So with this in mind, dosed up to the eyeballs with drugs of we went to Shelford Manor this weekend to contest..... our first ever BE100.... Now you know why i did all that SJ eh?!
Dressage: A sweet test with the right things nearly in the right places... stupid rider!! i forgot where i was meant to trot after the 2nd canter!! 🤣 left us with a 38.3 in the dressage, a good solid attempt for our first go and no silly spooking at scary ghosts 👻!! Our dressage does need work i know this but i was pleased with a sub 40 when stepping up a level i know they are looking for more roundness and self carriage but that will come... hopefully!!
Showjumping: Well im useless, its all i really have to say tbh, i let him down big time
The warm up didnt help at all, there were big posh ponies jumping bloody huge fences, i felt very out of place and out my depth and i seriously questioned what i was doing, thankfully i had a friend with me who lowered the fences to the correct height told me to man up and get my shoulders back and get on with it.... sadly i just couldnt shake the out of place/out of depth feeling so our round went from bad to worse having a total of 6 down
i was mighty pissed off not with him.... he was mega but we me i should have fixed it not let it carry on, i should have re thought what i was doing not just blindly kick and hope it worked. He needed his hand holding and i didnt hold it, 😫 he tried with his heart on his sleeve like he always does but we had one hell of a cricket score to add.... one day Ill do him justice and get it right! we can jump clear at that height, we have done it, but saturday was not our day
With the shocking sj round behind, for the first time ever on this horse i actually didn't want to go xc.... what if we weren't ready? what if the sj round was telling me we weren't ready? what if we were out of place? what if we were out our depth?
My friend told me to man up, said there were 6/7 fences before the questions started to be asked so i had plenty of time to decide if he wasn't jumping right before we got ourselves into trouble in a combination... off we went to warm up, beanz is notorious for being horizontal at a competition he had been all day but i was hoping and praying he would see the warm up and wake up... just a bit... he didnt! Until of course we were 15 seconds into the count down.... now we had jig jogging spinning... OMG WE ARE GOING XC PONY!!!!
1 was a log, easy peasy, 2 a table... flew it, 3 a palasade to a step up... completely bossed it, 5 a chair... then i got lost and completely overshot the turn into the trees! 6 was the first big jump on course a skinny brush shared with the novice... flew it! 8 a roll top, 9 the water with a log out, 10 a set of rails... flew through it all.... 11 was a hedge a fairly big hedge... took a stride out! 12 a set of pipes on 2 strides... he just ate the course up!! the next big question was a double with the 2nd element being a rather large table.... the first fence i was a tad apprehensive about... yup you guessed it flew straight through jumping huuuge over the table, next up the trakenher... still hate these fences.... he completely left me behind jumping way bigger than i expected, losing my stirrup on landing... i probably looked a right mess but he landed and stormed off to the next one! the final real question on course, a skinny angled brush to a set of pipes to a step down... i knew i had to get the angle right, he's never jumped a combination like this before but he's pretty good if he can see whats being asked so i had to show him the way... we turned, we took the brush on the angle he spotted the pipes and just flew through... ABSOLUTE LEGEND!!! we finish clear, full of running with a few time faults but i dont care about those we just went clear round our first ever BE100! AND when i say first i mean, me to ive never competed at that level before! if I could bottle up the feeling he gives me out there XC Id be set for life!! ❤️
I wasnt sure if we were 100% ready for it, I knew the sj would be the issue if there was to be one... I know what went wrong and I know how to fix it but all of that behind me I am still unbelievably proud of my little superstar 🌟 he has taken me further than any other horse Ive owned and what makes today just that little bit more special is having the pleasure to have produced him myself!! ❤️ I am very lucky to own a horse like him, he isnt easy but he just keeps giving and I know one day it will all come together at the right time! For now we will just keep plugging away!
If you got this far thanks for sticking with us! He's dropping back to 90 for a confidence boosting run next before we have another attempt at 100 before the season is out, i know we can sj i just need to not let the demons get to me this time... we can do it!!
Sorry no pics of the 100 as the pros weren't very good!!
