The sheer cheek- this really gets my back up! Just seen a post on fb, someone put a link so you can make a donation for their no hope horse's vets bills. Says there that she was told the horse would never be any good due to her wonky legs but had a foal last year (wise? ) anyway horse now injured and owner lost job......

Now I would like a nice holiday- if I set up a go fund me do you reckon any mugs would donate to it???

Yet another irresponsible, entitled idiot expecting everyone else to pick up the tab for their bad choices and complete inability to make an adult decision.

There are many of them, and for every one that succeeds another 10 will pop up!

Hmm I'd like the funds to transport my horse to Scotland, take my trailer test and buy a decent saddle - maybe people will pay for that!

They really get my goat. Pay for you own bloody horse. But as long as there is idiots who donate to make themselves feel better there will be asshats to take advantage.

Can't blame them for trying.
Its the idiots that donate I blame.
Gives them that warm fluffy, aren't I wonderful feeling.

How many who thought that idiots will donate would try this, or be tempted to? I would love donations towards my young mares vet bills, but would not ask. But, that holiday I fancy...

More fool those who do donate is my opinion. If you can't afford a horse don't own one!

Saw one a while back that asked for people to donate for the day to day care of their horse so they didn't have to sell her. They'd lost their job and didn't want to part with the mare, so had a go fund me page that included the words "since people are happy to donate to rescues, they shouldn't mind donating to me because it's the same thing".

P: Mind boggling.

Gosh yes, these really wind me up! They keep popping up on FB groups and it does my head in! They get so arsey when you say that they should pay for their own horse as well!

I saw one the other day about a rabbit - someone had "rescued" a sick rabbit (caught from freedom, not sure if wild or escaped pet) and taken it to the vets, wanted to give it the best chance so emergency vets, overnight care etc then it was PTS the next day. Handed a £400 bill and wanted help paying for it - why do they not consider this before they ask for all possible treatment?

I urgently need a holiday, unfortunately due to my naturally pale complexion people keep asking 'oh are you okay? You don't look to well, a bit pale' So I need some sun to sort that out, since i'm so pale 2 weeks would be good!
Is that a good enough sob story? Poor pale me :(

I saw one a while ago where the old horse was PTS, so they set up a funding page so they could buy a new one.

People are actually crackers. I've seen a few of these - in fact, someone tried a bit of emotional blackmail on me about one last year going on about how they'd had to have emergency colic surgery and how awful it was to be stuck with a bill in the region of a few thousand. Since I'd just lost my old horse with bills to around 4.5k (due to a frighteningly bad misdiagnosis early on) I was not exactly forthcoming with sympathy!

Completely agree. However slightly off topic, is asshats pronounced ass (as in donkey) hats, or eh-shats??

Do any of you ever bother commenting to any of the ridiculous Facebook posts?

Seen one today not for vet fees but someone trying to sell an unsound horse that was still got for hacking and sponsored rides and present sharer was hunting it!!! I had to sit on my hands 😡😡😡😡

So this is where I have been going wrong all this time?? My horse has his quarterly physio treatment booked in for next week, it is rather expensive, oh, and shoes the week after - Go Fund Me??!!

Seriously, why does this numpty not do the right thing and have the poor horse put down??

Unbelievable. I have seen a couple of these and can't quite believe it's happening!!! So here goes. Wanted by talentless fat over the hill arthritic lady 17.3hh warmblood schooled to PSG. Tto hack out once a month. Also good quality English tack to include one GP and one dressage saddle (in case I want to trot) . Thankx Donations gratefully accepted ooo and a couple of rugs fal thermatex etc

This does really annoy me because it's so irresponsible. Someone I know has just 'rescued' a feral kitten, she likes to let everyone know how she is the second coming of Mother Teresa for doing this but the kitten is riddled with worms, she's giving it dairy milk and adult cat food so it vomits and poo's all over the place, it's also covered in fleas and has some kind of mite infestation and is losing a lot of weight, fur and has now developed a large abcess on her stomach. This woman gets aggressive with anyone who says take it to the damn vet to either treat it or get it put down because "the cat would be dead without me". I look at that poor kitten and actually think it might be better off dead, harsh I know but I do hate all these do-gooders who rescue animals and then let them suffer because they are either too poor to look after them properly or don't have a clue, worse, both of the above.

Speaking of bizarre Facebook adverts, I saw one this morning that made me laugh out loud and nearly give away my sneaky Facebooking. Basically the horse sounds like an absolute nightmare; spooks, naps, jogs, bolts, rears, bucks and if it had hands would probably punch you. The horse has terrified the owner so the owner is advertising for someone to hack the horse out and to "fix it" for her. Unbelievably she wants YOU to PAY HER for this delightful experience.

Therefore, I shall set up a Just Giving page, people climb Everest or swim the Thames. I am going to risk life and limb with this horse, please sponsor me to cover my funeral costs :D

I saw this - the ex polo pony? Was gobsmacked. But no I didn't comment. People were even defending it being'undervalued'. Crazy.

No sob story- I just want to go on hollibobs and can't afford it lol!

Or sab story. Two lots of gofundme appeals set up, one for a new tyre for their Landy, which then got £500 and appeared to have a new valve, but not a new tyre. One just now from North London Sabs asking for £1500 because their van just blew up. Quite mad! They have the whole summer to save up!

This is so depressing: poor, poor animals. I really dislike humans sometimes :(

Not you chaps, or my friends, family, colleagues, etc... But hope you know what I mean.

Suppose there have always been idiots/chancers, call them what you will, but internet/social media allows a wider audience.
