go petition for bridlepaths

We have a bridleway that changes to a footpath for one field and then to a bridleway again. It's ridiculous.

Where I live (Kirklees) signposted many lanes and packhorse trails as footpaths decades ago. To reclaim these as ridden routes takes years (some are still ridden regularly, others wide enough for horses but blocked by styles) . I'll gladly sign the petition as something somewhere is wrong when the authorites/ government think we enjoy risking our lives, our horses lives and potentially other road users lives through being signposted off these ancient routes onto increasingly busy roads. Perhaps if some famous horsey names could voice how dangerous things are something may happen..............

May I suggest that you join and support the British Horse Society who have volunteer access (Bridleway) officers in each and every county of the United Kingdom who work tirelesslay to improve the rights of way network for horse riders and carriage drivers.
Your membership fee goes towards supporting the work they do.
If you have any problems with access (Bridleways) then please contact them as they will be only too pleased to assist you.

Also there are lots of volunteer bridleway groups throughout the country who also work alongside the BHS. making claims for the upgrade of footpaths to bridleways which is a long and tiring process but someone has to do it. The more people who get involved in this the better, even if it's just to complete an evidence form to say you've ridden a route in support of a claim.
