For my riding holiday next month eek! So many have go pro cameras and I can’t justify the cost. Would like some momentos of the beach etc.

Akaso keep coming up. Anyone used one? So many YouTube videos on mountain biking and vlogging. Not so many on riding.

I have an elderly Apexcam. Takes an SD card, works so-so for my purposes (filming me while I school), but I have weird requirements (battery needs to last on standby for a long time, needs to work in very hot/cold, need a very wide angle, remote control). However, it would work if I want to film my ride - it can attach to a chest harness or a helmet. I think most of the off-brand GoPros are decent enough, and can be mounted on chest or helmet, and the ones I know about all take an SD. I think they all also have an app but I don't use that so don't know much about it. I don't know if they'd work if you want the fancy things like 360?

However, I am planning to "upgrade" to an older model brand-name GoPro this spring. It will have a wider lens angle, better remote control, and more compatibility with specific accessories that I want. And the older used ones are quite cheap around here - not QUITE as cheap as the off-brands, but close. The price of used 3 through 7 range from $50-150 CAD, depending more on how many accessories they're selling with than how old they are, from what I can tell. 8 and up start to get more expensive.

Yes had an Akaso! Video quality is good and I used to attach with mount to either my chest or my hat. It had an app that would Bluetooth to the camera which I could then download to my phone. I used to only take short videos though and sometimes struggled to tell if it was on or off when on my head 🤣, but the newer ones might be a bit more user friendly

Thank you. I just won’t get the benefit of one that costs £££.
