This isn't horse related...

I'm a weekend receptionist at a car garage and we stock classic cars as well as some "normal" cars but with every single add on and extra imaginable. Every sunday my boss brings his children to work. they are right little *****s!!!

Stole the elastic band ball out of the reception draws and are bouncing it around the show room amongst the classics, screaming and shouting, playing music on their iPads, and generally running riot!

Customers are staring at them and looking at me as if they expect me to stop them. I CAN'T! The little blighters can't even be tamed by their father, let alone me...

I have no problem with children having fun, I just don't think a classic and specialist car garage is the right place.

The very thought of it brought on a cold sweat!

I used to work at a prestige car dealership - think VERY prestige as in many of them cost as much as a house - and one day I went into the main showroom where the particularly eyewateringly expensive ones were kept, to find a brat had spent a very happy morning running his toy cars over all bodywork. Scrapes and scratches all over bonnets, wings and even along doors.

OH DEAR GOD NO.

I winced at the thought. Fortunately I only had to polish off finger prints at the end of the day, and remove a sweet wrapper from a centre console. Thing is my boss doesn't even own the company, he's ONE of the MD's and is the kind of person who expects me to solve all the problems. if his child would have damaged anything it would have been my fault.

How old are they? Could you "put them to work"? Stapling, photocopying, highlighting an 'important document' for you etc? Maybe if they had something to do, they'd feel more important and be quieter? I do it with my office-mate's child all the time - he alphabetises all of my journal articles for me (he's 10) :wink3:

OH used to be a classic car nut and we've owned several "special" old vehicles over the years. They were all kept wrapped in fleece blankets, in a heated garage and only driven in good weather etc etc. I know from bitter experience how much it costs to mend a damaged classic.

I'd say, let your bosses kids get on with it tbh. When something precious and expensive gets damaged then he and his business partner can sort it out between them, and maybe he'll learn to keep the horrors under control.

One is 11 and should know better but his worst offence to date is lying on a bonnet posing for a selfie, and the other is 7 and has used every car as a climbing frame, dented a roof by dropping a rugby ball off the viewing balcony down into the show room, locked himself in the boot of a bentley and called his dad saying he'd been kidnapped, tipped an entire mug of hot chocolate over the back seat of a jag because he didn't get his own way and many more!

Ohh dear we have an Aston Martin and that gets wrapped in its own special pyjamas at winter and when in storage any tiny dents/scratches cost quite a bit to repair so I hate to think the money the company is spending to repair Jags and Bentleys!

I'm sorry this one made me chuckle, it's genius!
It must be a frustrating situation, but I cannot see how their dad can blame you for his children's behaviour. You're not their mother, you are the company's receptionist!

I'm a woman, obviously it's my job to control children! as well as it's my job to make coffee and clean! Oh and speak only when I'm spoken to!

Horrible little toads. Could you leave the trail of destruction for the father to see rather than cleaning up after them?

Where is he when they are running riot? If he cant be bothered to control the little farts maybe you should just let them run riot and ruin his business - I am sure customers will eventually vote with their feet and sales will be lost through their behaviour.

I do feel for you though OP :(
