Is anyone as bad as me out there? I wake in the night alot and wonder if my boy is warm enough, even if he's in!! Then I start to worry that he's run out of hay, or the drinker in his stable has broken and he's got no water! My horsey friends laugh at me for being so daft! But am I being daft, really?!!

I do the same :D or if it's tipping it down with rain I always think oh poor X is out in the field even if they have a new zealand on...

Mabye a little bit haha. I worried about the waterer in my old stable too as they used to freeze so he always got a bucket in the stable at night too (no longer on that yard) :). As for running out of hay - my horse finishes his hay even if you give him a whole bale (have tried it) which is a bit excessive :p.

Other people on the yard (mainly our students) have told me that I'm very protective over my horse....WELL OF COURSE I AM!!!!!! He's my pride and joy and my best mate haha!!

i must be heartless then.

as i know i always leave her with loads of hay (i actually put som eback tonight i went hay happy lol) farrr too much water (2 huge buckets)....rugged up.... etc

and i dont give her a second thought until i get down in the morning the next day :D

evil woman i am :D

My boyfriend is cross with me because I have rugged this little fellow. He was cold so persuaded him to let me put a LW on last night and tonight my spare Medium Weight accidently found its way on his back....to be fair he was a wee tucked up its just rained here all day and the wind is really bitter. I havent yet finished hardcoring the front of the shelter but opened it up for them tonight. And I am extra soft as I bought them up fresh and still warm speedybeet.

Just I think hes rather scrummy heres a pic.

He is beautiful. And dont worry, we have horses like him too that are in med weights :D

He is a bit of a poof to be honest I think my boyfriend is a bit disheartened( he works with hardcore ploughing horses that roughed it out last winter). Jake (the cob) had a flint in his foot and he was lame for three days on it. I told Ben he is a TB in disguise, and I wont tell you the reply....

haha i do the same! My boy stayed in today as weather here was shocking! I gave him breaky (which I had stopped, was getting fed twice at night instead) and gave him 2 huge wheel barrows of haylage, plus what ever my amazing YO gave him and then spent the day shopping. But I did keep wondering if he had enough feed or whether his bed needed changing lol. Got to him tonight didn't need hay or a bed change... he was fine :D

I'm glad it'snot just me!! I worry when Lukey is out, especialy when the weather is bad, but then I worry when he's in too, it's not just the water but he's quite messy and all his bed ends up round the edge of his box so he has hardly nothing in the middle, so I worry if he's going to be comfy when he lays down, even though he has rubber matting too!!!!!!!!!!

Yep I'm part of that club too! It isn't unheard of for me to return to the yard at ungodly hours because I've been worried about my boys being too cold/too hot/uncomfortable/hungry/thirsty etc even though I never leave the yard without giving Max a HUGE net of haylage and Lewi a well stuffed normal net of haylage, 2 big tub trugs of fresh water each, a very clean and comfy bed each and nice warm rugs (depending on the weather).

I like to think that we're particular rather than paranoid lol

Ollie is my first owned horse! I am still getting to know him and don't know all his quirks, which has meant leaving him live this to be a big step. However I am taking steps in the right direction I believe but he is still very much wrapped in cotton wool!
However is there such a thing as a kavla (sp) hood? He has a Mach 3 in his stable somewhere and i need to stop the shaving of said star lol :D

Yep I worry if my pony is warm enough especially this winter as it's the first time he's really been without a rug for more than a few days, he has sweet itch so rugged all year. But took it off early this year and gave him a while without a turnout rug before clipping him.

Then now he's clipped I worry he's still not warm enough as fully clipped him for the first time rather than blanket clipped. Also worry he's going to get cast when he's in on a night even though he now wears an anti cast roller, forgot to put it on last night and could hardly sleep.

gosh im laid back - my two are happy and loved and they know it lol . do i wake up worrying nope i dont as horses kept worse so please relex chill and enjoy and stop beating selves up :)

I have worse worries, that they've slipped in the field or got caught somewhere etc.

I woke up at 1.30am the other week thinking the 2 gates were open and they could get onto the main road. I couldn't get hold of anyone, obviously at that time, and i live nearly 20 miles away, so i rang the police station (non emergency number) to ask if they could nip up and check if anyone was driving past. After 25 mins on hold i figured there had been no reports of loose horses causing chaos, and that they were obviously not going to get back to me.

The gate was shut and they were all fine. Although the following week they did get out of that very gate ~(never used) into the front yard/ garden and had a party, but couldn't get onto the main road. So maybe i'm psychic?? :D or maybe insane?

I don't worry about him being cold very often, or running out of food. He's a fatty, will do him no harm.

I think you all need a large glass of wine!
Your horses sound like they are very well looked after and want for nothing so it seems a shame for you to be losing sleep over it!
