Well an interesting one, and not the best of results, but pleased with him overall! Took him to Draycott for the Intro section, as this was to be only the second BE event he has completed all 3 phases in one way or another!

Walked the course last night, an thought it well upto height and "spooky" in places, with lots of things to challenge a relatively green 5yr old!

Anyway, got up at the crack of dawn, arrived for our 8.20 dressage, *yawn* Goddy was very chilled and pleasant for him, nice start to the day! Other than being swarmed with flies (
frown.gif
) warmed up nicely, wandered in to do our test and did an ok if slightly tense and in places slightly wonky test due to G trying to avoid flies/wanting to make friends with the horse next to him/generally wated to know everyone elses business but generally obedient except our first centre line which was beautifully straight, but about 2 metres away from the ACTUAL centre line (mown centre lines are very scary!!) and a moment of leaving the arena....
blush.gif
However, got a slightly mean 42.1. Ho hum, the worst mark he has ever got, but prob not for the worst test....

Onto the Sjing, never our strong point, and as alot of people know, we really struggled to get round at the beginning of the season....Anyway, warmed up, had one paddy in the warm up ring, but then went in and jumped a very green but pleasing CLEAR ROUND

Very very chuffed, as was beginning to think we would never see the day, and was an ineresting course of related distances and dog legs, so HUGE pats and smiles all round

Wandered down to XC 10mins before time, to find they hadnt started....30mins later and a bored Goddy, get going. He basically turned very green on me, had a silly stop at fence 2 just because I didnt ride him and was being complacent, but then popped through the angled roll top, the log down hill to the down step on a curve to the flowerbed on the buckle end, (big pats, he locked on and went
smile.gif
) the open ditch, the angled rails in the wood, the log on a curve to steps up, and then had a silly stop at the angled log to a skinny log pile. He saw the log pile at the last minute, and just wasnt sure what I was asking, so ground to a halt

Jumped it beautifully second time, through the water,(alot of encouragement for the house on the way out!) over the wall, the brush and then a big bold jump over the PN pumpkin cart and finish.

So disappointed with 2 stops, but he hadnt been out for weeks, and is at the stage where he needed runs back to back, but generally pleased with the way he jumped the "bolder" fences and considering we couldnt even get round a course of SJs 6mnths ago am pleased. Roll on next season!!

Thanks for reading....

Hey that doesnt sound all bad hon.
Shame about the dressage mark, but we know hes a great horse at this phase. Bloody brilliant clear round, putting those sjing demons to bed
smile.gif

The xc you can now work on over the winter.
Hes still only 5 and its a good finish to the season hon.
Vxxx

We have just got home, we did the prenovice. We also got an awful dressage mark of 39 ,I thought it was a nice test but the judge didn't agree.
Thought the show jumping was tiny and jumped clear and the xc was ok ,a lot of the fences were repeated [roll tops and flower beds] the 2nd water was lovely. Long gaps then a lot of fences together ,anyway went clear and I would think within the time but didn't wait as most people were going clear and I should think it will be on dressage scores.
Still nice finish to the season and think the course will eventually be very nice

Yeah I went back and watched some of the PN this afto, and I didnt think they had changed the course for the Sjing from the Intro..... The XC was a very different story for the Intro, lots having probs, but tbh there were areas of the PN I would rather have jumped, we wouldnt have had that second stop if we had been doing the PN!!

If anyone was trying to warm up for dressage around 11.30 I apologise now.. my mad grey mare decided to throw all her toys of the pram in one go and came out of her warm-up and test covered in more sweat than she did in the xc
blush.gif
. So from a 31.5 dressage at Oasby we had a shameful 47 point something. She slightly redeemed herself with a double clear but I think I need her back on her calmer

Hey thats not too bad, I saw you warming up for the s.j and I think walked past you after you had finished the x.c. We didn't get back until 5 set off at 6.30 this mroning. I thought the dressage was a bit dodgy marked, the last 6 in my section all got under 30 and none looked that good. Rocky did an really good test (for him) to get 40 then double clear but ended up with 16 time penalties ,took it really steady going down to the angled double after the steps as it was so hilly and wet.

well done, the x.c was v.scary for a youngster

Hey, did you see us stop in the warm up!? Well done on the double clear!! year the ridge and furrow field wasnt particularly friendly, neither was that angled double!!

But we survived and looking at the board, alot fell off or were elim!

Which section were you in? Our judge did seem to be marking quite harshly.

Lol, thanks hon. he is normally fab XC, but we have really been lacking the runs to give him the mileage he needs. He is having a break till december now to grow up, and then schooling for next season starts in earnest!

No i missed that one! you were walking round most of the time I saw, was trying to learn the course at the same though. We were in section C, (no 118 ) the marks were really mixed in ours but out of all the sections ours were the lowest .Which section were you in?

We were in B. She seemed to mark harshly for half the section, then got nicer...never mind! First time ever we have had 2x4's in a test!!

Well done. The show jumping was a little `iffy` especially fence 1 to 2, and then 4 to 5, and the turn to 6 was a little sharp too I thought.
It seems that the judges for the dressage were all over the place today as I heard a couple of people speak to the person I was with, and they were suprised to learn that they had very good dressage marks, one girl had scored 20, and it was only her 3rd event, and then a lady who usually scores well, said that she did a good test, she thought, and got 30 something.
The last fence on the xc course looked very big, with all those pumpkins on too, but it seemed to jump well.
Well done to everyone today, I would`ve loved to jump my horse there today, but she is a wimp, or is it me??
grin.gif

There is a pony club ODE there next week.

I was worried by the tractor next to the saw bench , my horse hates tractors .Funny they never notice them when there is a jump by the side but I wouldn't want to fall off against it.

He he. Were you the lady on the dapple grey who went lovely round the SJing. I was with Fleur videoing. She is a very nice mare.

Yeah, that was us
grin.gif
, she redeemed herself from that point on!

I thought the xc was very meaty and asked a few questions, but I supposed it was good for those who want to step up to pn next year. I was very lucky to get a good shot at the angled log/skinny at 13 but it certainly had me worried.

Back off there now to write for the OPN dressage, I'll apologise to my judge from yesterday as she's there today too.

Was gonna come say hi but thought you'd be knackered after your XC. Yeh bless him but he got going well after the water over the 3fences i could see - he seemed to pick up a bit.

Boo hoo i would have been pleased if my mare got that score...sometimes we get mid 40s!!!

Lol, yeah he woke up after the water. He wasnt happy with the humidity, and it did take him a while to get going!! But the last few fences were the best of the lot, other than the step/flower bed combo at 5/6
smile.gif

Well done!! I thought the pumpkin fence was on the large side for the PN so was shocked when I saw it was in the intro as well!!!!

well done - i was surprised that pumpkin fence was Intro!! shame about stops xc but glad sj went well it wasn't easy course - just wished someone had remembered to put it up for PN next day it was tiny smallest i've seen.
you'll be weel on your way next season!!

I know, I went back later and watched the PN, and the sjing looked identicle. The Pumpkin fence G jumped better than any other fence on the course....he wants the bigger ones!! Little git
