Well after much discussion with instructor, and phone call to vet, regarding Goddy's hind leg splint, we decided to go to Winkburn today and play it by ear. He has been 100% sound and general concensus was just make sure he is boote up and dont hammer on bad ground!!
Sooo...got there for ungodly dressage time, very excited G, took me about 10mins to gain vague control, but then was good boy and settled nicely. Went in, did half decent test, pain with the arena being on a slope as found it difficult to balance our canter, but stilll accurate and obedient, so pleased.
Went back to lorry, swapped tack and found that travelling mate had been eliminated Sjing
not overly impressed as Sjing not mine or Goddy's strong point, spec not in "busy" environments! So bandaged up, and pootled down.... G warmed up beautifully, and went in and jumped a lovely round, green but honest and just had the one fence down, and a couple of time faults cos I forgot where I was going and almost turned the wrong way!
But huge pats for the G horse. Found out had 37 dressage when came out which was pleased with.....
So, wandered off to do XC, G woke up in the start box, and we popped round and had a fab time, other than me getting lost twice in the woods and inventing some intresting lines to fences!!
Just had a silly glance off right near the end, as I forgot to ride, and had serious time faults as was taking it VERY easily, but overall seriously chuffed with my pony!!
Oberall was very pleased with how much effort had been made on the going, although was shard in places, generally the going was good, and in some places positively soft! Other bigger events could learn a bit I think.... But anyway, roll on next week at Stafford...though would like a small amount of rain to give slightly softer ground please.....
