Going abroad - what to do with horses?!

Can they live out I would be inclined to put them on livery where they will be checked but will live out, do you have someone here that is capable of checking the horses for you while you are away.

Another one for retirement livery as you can just bring them home when you return - just make sure its a really good one. A friend of mine sent her two to one for six months - they live out, get checked twice a day, rugs removed etc in nice weather, get wormed ... :D about £30 per week per horse. x

Sounds wonderful. Has this place got a website?

I think I'll start another thread for recommendations for retirement liveries!

Some retirement liveries send weekly photo's and updates. These days its simple enough to send little video's as well, so you could be reassured that they were ok.

Have you thought about full/grass livery on a hunting yard ? Lots of facilities and services with staff used to taking full responsibility for horses that only see their owners when hunting.

Don't rule out loans completely. You could train someone to ride your KS horse to ride the way you want. A friend loaned a 25 yr old pony when her owner went to SA. Pony needed an experienced rider and luckily my friend came along and idolised her.

Good luck with your new venture OP.
