As title.
I have always had a livery do my boy for me when away but now no livery and my boy and companion need to be put out, mucked out, hay, water brought in.
Probably no more than two hours work per day.
I have someone in the village (less than a mile away) helping me out thankfully but how much should I pay her?
Thanks

I would say £15-£20 per day but it depends if they treat it as a business thing or just a favour for you. You could always ask them what they want, knowing what the job involves and if they can't say then suggest what you think. They won't be happy to do it again if you try to do it on the cheap and if they are reliable then it's worth paying for peace of mind.

My local lady charges £8.00 per hour but she is only a couple of miles away so doesn't have to travel.

Better to pay well and then you can ask her again. Having someone you KNOW will do it and cope with anything is worth a lot.

I've just had to pay someone £30.00 to hold my horse for the vet, it was a last minute thing though because my mum was rushed into hospital!

I would say £10 per hour, as it has to be more as it isn't regular work, so if 2 hours a day (sounds like I could do it in one tbh!) then £20. £15 sounds reasonable for that workload though, can they stay in their turnout rugs? Do you want them washed off? For the short time you are away I would leave them in their rugs so person can just chuck them in at night, if you want a proper job then nearer £20 worth.
Better to over than underpay as then she will help you out again and also won't be tempted to cut corners.

Thank you all.
I would be leaving them in their turnout rugs as they have stable doors open so can go in or out on yard.
she is a local girl, very knowledable with very horsey family with their own livery yard. Hense I know I can trust her.
I asked her how much she charged and she laughed and said "a million! just pay me what you think its worth"
I was thinking £20 per day but husband said that would be a lot if we had to pay that for a 14 day holiday!
I think £20 per day it will be!

Yes that is fair. horses are a hell of a lot of responsibility - even if they are kept in the same rugs etc, I would assume that you would like them lifted off and checked under etc...

She sounds like a nice, knowledgeable, responsible girl which IMO counts for a lot :)

if you had to pay for a 14 day holiday, I'm sure you can negiotate a slightly better rate ;)

I do this alot around where i live.

I charge £10 per day per horse for a full livery package and £20 per day per horse if the horse is to be exercised.

Or £6 per hour +40p per mile travelled
