Has anyone gone back to assisted from part livery? And if yes, what were the reasons other than saving money? Has it been worth it? Thanks :)

I have gone from being on part livery for 10 years to diy for the last 3 years. Yes I would say it has been worth it my horse is much happier and I am happier as everything is now how I like it!

Personally I like assisted DIY as it's much more flexible. On the days you are unable to see to your horse, you just get YM to do it but then when you can do it all yourself you can! It gives you a lot more control and should work out cheaper as well hopefully

Your horse is happier as he/she can be out longer than at part livery yards?

I have calculated savings to be about £30 during winter and £100 during summer months. Not that much adding up the extra petrol and trips to get feed and bed.

Yes she is out a bit longer but that isn't really it as she wasn't that keen staying out longer in the beginning and that can still be the case now. It is more about consistency staff change over time and some are really good and conscientious, others aren't so ..... she gets fuss and attention now twice or even sometimes three times a day instead of us just turning up in the evening. She gets to go out as soon as she has finished breakfast and isn't hanging around until it is her turn etc. It is just more one-to-one contact and her not having to be rushed out to fields etc, if she wants to saunter along that is fine with me!
