The temperature is dropping to 2c tonight at the yard. Horses have had their rugs off all week due to the warmer than average weather. What would you all do.....leave them as is, or put their rugs back on tonight

They're both stabled at night on straw btw...

if they have had them off for a week or so then I woulnt put them back on as the horses will have aclimatised... I've been stressing about mine being out naked now but they don't seem at all bothered...!

Strangely if mine are stabled i am more likely to rug them, I think they can keep warm by moving around outside.
Mine are all out and I will probably only rug the skinny TBx..the natives will cope

We only have H/W and M/W t/o rugs....or show rugs

I rug by temperature, rather than what he's been used to. He's acclimatised to it being warm, so will be cold without a rug. Thats how I see it anyway

.

how posh are your show rugs - mine have the lightest rug rambo cooler thing. Really it's to stop stable stains

, but will get a bit more hayledge to nite

I do the same as Chex - my lad either wears one or not depending on how warm/cool he feels himself at 10:30ish not by the temperature outside

Stick a rug on them.
My boys are out now 24/7 but are rugged up. Okay only in 220g NZ rugs but can move around to keep warm if nec.
If they were stood in, i would pop a warmer rug on them. Although my stables are wooden and keep the heat well.

Vx

LOL, only my young'n has been naked over night this week, chloe who is fully clipped and skinny type has a lightweight thermatex rug on, Marey who is hairy ISH has had a fleece on. Last night I switched Marey back to her 200gm rug on, as it was cold and glad I did when I visited this morn, it was chilly.

If it were me I'd put l/w rugs on them

Thanks for all the opinions guys

Think i'll put their m/w's back on tonight and see how they go

The yard does get quite cold so i'm sure they'll appreciate them

Put a M/W on. It has been bl88dy cold some mornings! Finni went back to his M/W last night as he was cold the morning before, in a fleece.

It's that trixie time of year, where you need the full arsenal of rugs to hand lol!
