ok, current situation - I have a little car with bloomin awful economy when comparing it to other cars in it's class (I scrape 40mpg, when others can do 60-70). I have a B licence and don't want to do my B+E if I can help it. I have an old Rice Europa trailer that is having a bit of a facelift - I think the unladen weight is about 750kg and am thinking of getting it downplated to 1400 MAM so I can tow it and my single lightweight horse on a B licence. I have done a couple of posts about this and am still as confused as ever! I am looking for a vehicle with these specs (thanks ROG!) -
Maximum GVW 2100
Minimum Kerb 1400
Towing capacity at least 1400 (so the full trailer MAM of 1400 can be used)
And I have been given this website to help with the search - http://www.cuddles.abelgratis.net/kerbweights.htm
But I am confused about GVW - I am thinking this is the weight of vehicle with all contents, but excluding any trailer???? (this is what Wikipedia told me
) Also, the helpful website doesn't seem to tell me GVW unless it has another name! Plus I'd need to trawl through every single car on that website to write my list of possibilities - and don't have time for it!
So found this website - http://www.towinghorsetrailers.co.uk/towing_vehicles.htm
But don't sure what vehicles it gives me would be legal for B licence towing - again seems like a very long process to go through them all to check.
So looking for a vehicle with above specs with economy better than 40mpg (it'll be used for my everyday car and towing once or twice a month). And I need a quicker way to write my shortlist! Any more helpful websites? As do not have a single car so far in mind! I guess if I know roughly what type for vehicle I am looking for, I can go through all the similar cars and check their stats, so any starting points for me?
Very confused!
