Going out my mind what do u think???

Oh bless....no she doesn't look anything like a pitbull to me either.

I do hope that this is a hoax......or might it be better if it wasn't?

After owning my own pit bull, before the legislation came in all those years ago, it saddens me how they fall into the hands of such idiotic owners. My girl was the softest sweetest girl ever it is such a shame that due to owners like this they have been given such a bad name.:

Yep...its the way they're brought up...not the breed! Just APBT's don't give up once their temper is triggered, that why they have the rep. Such a shame!

If it isn't a hoax then that fool still has 2 pit bull 'types' and is teaching them to grab and hold. According to the profile that goes with his crappy, indulgent and pointless video he's only 18! It's like giving a child a loaded gun isn't it.

Playboy is a girl isn't she?

Well I am glad you dont think she looks like one, cause its all on the news again, as the Granny whos pitbull killed her grandaughter has been sent to prison.
Even a staffi would rather seriously hurt themselves than let go of something they really want and teaching them to do it just shows how low on the evolutionary ladder some people can be.

I meant the owner of Rudi who did the video of the 'pitbulls' on Youtube, not the poster of the question on here. Sorry for the confusion.

Pit bulls arent illegal in the UK as far as im aware? i know that people who own them must keep them muzzled in public at all times, but im pretty certain they aren't banned?? and staffies arent dangerous dogs either, they just have a bad name as idiots try and use them for fighting, but naturally they arent agressive.

my gran has a staffie and is the most docile, un-agressive dog i have ever known. its all about the environment the dog grows up in, altho i know that pitbulls are naturally agressive dogs anyway. my friend had 3 and one had to be put to sleep as it was so agressive, not her fault, just the way the breed is.

i think its a bit strange the RSPCA just walked in and took ur dog? someone wouldve had to have reported the dog as dangerous and had some proof too as u cant just go around sayin peoples dogs are dangerous and having them PTS without any real evidence, and from the vid he seemed a normal happy pup?

You have to apply to the court for a special licence to keep a pit bull or pit bull type and I'd hazard a guess that these dogs didn't have a licence.

Pit Bulls, Dogo Argentinos and Japanese Tosa's are all banned breeds in the UK - this means that it is ILLEGAL to own or breed them - anyone who currently has a Pit Bull is breaking the law - if this story is true and the dog was taken away by the RSPCA ( V odd I must say !) then it will have been destroyed as it could not legally have been rehomed

My cat pounced on my feet this morning and bit them perhaps he should be pts for aggressive behaviour!!!!!!!!!!
I don't like dogs being given sticks to throw and catch either - its dangerous.

Yep .................seen some really bad accidents with sticks going through dogs tongues

and piercing through cheeks

....I never throw sticks for mine.

The law is that if you own a dog listed under the dangerous dogs act you must have it neutered and muzzled and on a lead when in public. You can't breed, sell or exchange pitbulls etc, including their cross breeds.

Which obviously makes a mockery of the whole thing because if you can't breed or sell them then how come people still get hold of them
confused.gif

Yeah probably, or the police just don't know how to stop it or where to start? The law is so stupid. What is a 'pit bull type'? They've pulled in boxer crosses because no-one knows what a 'pit bull type' actually is. Then you have pillocks like the original posters brother actually boasting about owning a Pitbull and nothing's done at all.

Not if they have a licence...

I think there is an exemption list that these types of dogs can be registered on IF they are not deemed a threat. They still cant be bred from though.

Section 1 of the Act stipulated that owners of the ‘type of dog known as a pit bull terrier’ and three other breeds (Japanese tosa, Dogo Argentino and Fila Braziliero) had to fulfil certain strict requirements. These included keeping the dog muzzled and on a lead at all times in a public place, having the dog insured and neutered with the aim of the breeds becoming extinct in the UK. Owners of these dogs were not permitted to give away or sell their dogs and any dog of a prescribed breed or type had to fulfil all of the requirements of the DDA 1991 by November 1991 or would become illegal.

Under the DDA 1991, owners convicted of having either an ‘illegal dog’ or a dog which has injured a person for any reason, no matter how minor the injury, could have received a criminal record, up to £5000 fine and up to six months in prison. The dog would have been destroyed.

As the act came into force in 1991 this effectively means that all Pitbulls currently owned are in fact illegal ( see breeding clause) - unless they are some VERY old Pitbulls around

"No person shall—
(a) breed, or breed from, a dog to which this section applies;
(b) sell or exchange such a dog or offer, advertise or expose such a dog for sale or exchange;
(c) make or offer to make a gift of such a dog or advertise or expose such a dog as a gift;
(d) allow such a dog of which he is the owner or of which he is for the time being in charge to be in a public place without being muzzled and kept on a lead; or
(e) abandon such a dog of which he is the owner or, being the owner or for the time being in charge of such a dog, allow it to stray."

No mention of owning being illegal.

"the Pit Bull Terrier
the Japanese tosa
the Dogo Argentino
the Fila Brasileiro

It is an offence to own or keep any of the above types of dog, unless it is on the Index of Exempted Dogs and is in compliance with the requirements"

Exempted dogs must be neutered, tattoed, chipped and muzzled in public places. It is illegal to breed but not to own those dogs under a licence. The licence/expemption is at the discretion of the courts.
