Going rate for yard help?

I have been promoted at work and am working longer hours so am struggling to keep on top of things at the yard a little (short on time & too knackered!)....I can still ride my main one, but am thinking of getting someone twice a week for a couple of hours to keep on top of tack cleaning, grooming, keeping the tack room tidy etc.

How much should I expect to pay? As I say, two hours, twice a week, but days and times flexible (not weekends though)
They could also ride my semi-retired 14.2h if they wanted to do work for rides (and weren't too heavy)

I am in Northamptonshire.

Hi, a little while ago I used to help out at a yard on a saturday just for 4 hours and got paid £20 it consisted of mucking out the livery's, filling nets, turning out and general cleaning of the yard - 40 stable yard - 11 on full livery. It could be a possibilty for you to advertise it as "jobs for riding"? that way you should get someone who is actually interested and if the jobs arent done properly then they dont ride. (i really dont want to sound harsh!) hope that helps? :)
 
A lot would help out for free, especially with the chance of a bit of riding. Be choosy and get someone who appreciates your horses :)
 
Freelance groom round here £10 per hour-ish, depends whether you want someone for free - work for rides type arrangement - in which case you will (probably!) get lower standards, can't insist they come at all if they don't fancy it or how much they do while they are there, or if you want a professional to do a professional job. You can't pay minimum wage - employers pay that to the employee PLUS NI, etc, to HMRC direct, plus offer paid holidays and other perks if you're lucky. Your freelance groom has to pay NI and tax themselves out of what they earn, doesn't get guaranteed work each week or paid holidays so its not a direct comparison to an employed position.
 
We paid £10/hr for a qualified, experienced person. We had a help for rides arrangement before, and it was hopeless! We also tried a lower paid and less experienced groom, who didn't even turn up the first two times we booked her! So I would rather pay more for someone that I trust with my horses and who is reliable...
