Hi all,
Possibly have an opportunity to rent a yard for my own plus a couple of liveries. The yard facilities are good and there is plenty of offsite hacking...

So, id like to know what the going rates are for Part and Full livery at the moment, im just exploring all options before going into it but would like to know just incase :)

Thanks guys!

The yard I used to be at (Herts/Bucks) was £65 per week for part livery.

Weekdays (not weekends)
* Turning out and bringing in
* Feet picked out (not groomed)
* Change rug if needed
* Fed morning and evening
* Mucked out
* Hay, straw and hard feed included
* Use of outdoor school (you needed to book a time, paricually at weekends as it was very well used)

At the weekend you could arrange for them to do the horse for an extra fee. Holding the horse for the farrier or vet was also extra.

West Sussex on Ashdown forest .. £105 per week for 7day part livery. Pretty much everything done but riding.

I'm in Lancs :) £65 for part livery and I think £75 for budget full and £85 for full.
The difference between budget full and full is the horse is exercised if on full.

In North kent I pay £60 per week for part livery which includes all feed, hay and straw, also turning out or bringing in, but not mucking out, that's very reasonable round my way!

At my livery yard in Epsom, the going rate for Part Livery is £125 per week or £162.50 for Full Livery per week (ridden 6 days a week, tack cleaning, will be out for the vet/farrier etc).

I've just moved to new yard am paying £35/week for part/assisted diy includes:
5 day feed, turnout, rug change, wormer (and worm counts I think) and ad lib hay/haylage with a menage, lovely stables grazing and miles of off road riding.
No extra charge for farrier/vet. Will bring in if you cant make it up - lovely people and seemingly flexible approach.:)

It really depends on the area and what is included in the livery e.g. hay/haylage and how much (true adlib or "adlib" = 2 sections per night), straw or shavings, type of hard feed etc.

I honestly dont know how livery yards in the SE make any money at all if they actually provided what they say will provide and care for the horse as they say they will (i.e. adlib hay/full muck outs not deep littering etc) unless they are charging minimum £150 pw not including riding/tack cleaning.

If you are going to do all of the work yourself, then I would only take on full liveries but in order to have the standard of care that I would expect on full livery I would only have 8 if they are to be kept in overnight for more than 8 hours. If you have a problem with storage, then I would include hay/straw etc in the livery but I would have a sliding scale determined by the size/diet of horse. As for hard feed, again, if you have limited space I would include this in the livery but specify which feed is included.

Best thing to do is find out what other yards in your area are charging and see how your yard would fit in, in terms of facilities and livery offered.

insurance ie public liability and 3c liability, business rates, water rates, yard rental, electric, employers liability, accountants fees, wages, plus feed hay and bedding, fertilizing, spraying, muck removal, running repairs like fencing, all need to be priced into your end livery price. good luck there is little return for your work, more a way of life really. also the area you are in will also determine a typical going rate for livery.

Wilts/Hants border - pay £370 pcm for full livery (literally everything, including exercise, 7 days a week).

Although the yard I was at before, it was £650. So there is quite a range there!!

ooh, pm me where this is please. I didn't know there was anywhere in this area that cheap.

Obviously you will need to work out your own costs (proportion of yard rental, cost your time, etc) to make sure you don't under charge whatever you decide to charge.

The going rate around where I am (berkshire/oxfordshire) seems to be £100 to £140 part livery, with full livery anything from £140 upwards.
