He is lovely and seems perfect but why does he have to be so far away!!

I just hope he is worth the journey.

Has anyone else travelled this far to see a horse?

Also do you think i should take the trailer with me to save another journey or go back to pick him up at the weekend if any good?

oh blimey dont say that!!! I wont be having him vetted but i just hope that he is the "one" but it will be over a 500 mile roudn trip...twice(if i dont take the trailer tomorrow)!!!
Should i take the trailer???!! I would rather not take the trailer....i feel its sort of tempting fate a little!!

I know a lot of people who have travelled to view horses - I think it's a good option especially if the market in your area isn't good.

We did 200 miles so a 400 round trip, then again a week later after vetting.
Also allowed for payment via a Buidling Society cheque- safer than carrying loads of cash,

I wouldn't take the trailer. But I would ask them to load him/her on one while your there to make sure it loads o.k. Cover everythng ask them to ride him in heavy traffic, turn clippers on as though they were going to clip him. All the things you want to be able to do ask them to do it, only obviously if they have said it will etc. If you buy then ask them to deliver as part of the deal. Good luck let us know tomorrow if you are buying.

I went from Essex to Dorset to view Spider (piebald in my siggie) It took me between 4 & 5 hours each way, twice (viewing first time & collecting a week later) I was so glad I did, as I fell in love with the photo's of him loose jumping & he was just what I wanted when I got there.
Exhausting though

I travelled 300 miles last year to see a horse.

Don't take a trailer - no.1 because you need to get it vetted, and no 2. the sellers may be very put out.

we have travelled a few times so far to see horses i always take transport saves yime and money and gives you more bargaining power as they have a genuine buyer good luck hope it is as described to you

OP has already said she won't be getting it vetted and why would the sellers be put out?

We did Devon to Lancashire to look at my horse and she was def. worth it! We asked so many questions and she sounded perfect and the seller seemed genuine, we also combined it with looking at 2 others in the area. We didn't take the trailor because it was cheaper in fuel if we didn't want her, we wanted to have her vetted and I think it gives the wrong impression esp. as they were private sellers. They decided to bring her down half way as they had lessons at Talland anyway which was great!

I did 400 miles to see my horse in 4 trips of 100 miles each time! First to go for a look, second to take a friend along, third to have him vetted and fourth to bring him home. Still in love with him (mostly) so that's OK!!
