After complaining at the start of the week that I couldn't find anything I liked, I'm going to see a horse tonight.

Wish me luck, it's been almost 8 years since I last went horse shopping!

Thanks all, will let you know how it goes :) He's a 16.1 ex-racer, and he's 10, sounds like pretty much exactly what I'm looking for so here's hoping!

Update!

Horse is very handsome, and seems a nice sort of chap to be around. He was having a bit of a mad day (airs above the ground on the lunge, generally being uncooperative lol) as he hadn't been ridden for a few days. He was lunged for 5/10 mins then the girl who rides him got on, once he'd settled he looked pretty good :) so I had a quick shot, and I'm going back for a second viewing tomorrow morning. The only thing is, he's a bit older than what I was looking for; if it turns out tomorrow that he's perfect in all other respects then it won't put me off, but if not it'll be a 'no'.

How exciting! How old is he? what does he look like? details! :)

millhouse - yes, he's ex-NH, never won a race, bless him, so he wasn't very good at it lol.

Dylan, who was my horse of a lifetime and was PTS in December, was half-TB, and I've known so many who've gone on to be fantastic horses in all sorts of homes, I quite fancied giving a full TB a go :)

Yet another update!

Went to see him again this morning, and I've decided, although he was very nice and I did like him, he's not the one for me :( will keep hunting, and keep you all posted if I find anything else :)

Arr well never mind, that's what second viewings are all about.

Good luck with your search, lots of lovely ex racers out there, you are sure to find one that is for you.

Oh I did exactly the same on Saturday! I saw the horse initially and it was the first one I thought yeahhhhh! Anyhow went for a second viewing and didnt quite like what I saw. Drove 120miles and within 10minutes decided NO! Was gutted as I really liked him and on the ground he was perfect. Just failed a bit after that! When it was walking its head was in the air and it looked like it needed a good gallop!

So I am in great sympathy with you & am taking it slowly. But funny how you just know.

I really thought this one was going to be my boy, something none of the others did! then it all went down hill!

oh well here we go again...............
