Pony's new owners (recently sold) have asked if i want to go and see him in his new home which is really nice of them.... but i don't know... is it a good idea or will it just upset me all over again? Have you done this? Any thoughts appreciated

If they say bhe's happy- go! They want you to see how appreciated he is- and if were them and you said no, I'd be quite upset...

Go and see him, if the new owners are confident enough to invite you then I'd hope there is nothing to worry about. I've always invited ex owners to come and see them, I send photos and keep in touch at least a few times a year.

I went to see my old boy last year and in some ways wished I hadn't. He was well looked after and looked in very good condition but had become very nippy, apparently he had started box walking and just looked unsettled. He had been there for 4 months so I would have hoped to see him more settled when I saw him. I came away with mixed emotions he was being well looked after but he had changed and wasn't the horse I had known and loved for 5 years. They have since asked me to go back but I have declined.

I try to see my mare a couple of times a month although the last few months it has been harder with having the new boy to look after.

Her new owner is wonderful and loves my mare with all her heart, and I couldn't want for anything else for her. It is coming up to a year since she has had her and she is now retired at the grand age of 28 (yes, she has been going strong this long!)

My mare always have centre stage in my heart and I am still not over her, so I do not know what I would do if I couldn't see her. Her owner sends me lots of updates and pictures and we talk in some form probably once a week, so I like to think we have become good friends as well.

If you are sure that he went to a good home then definitely go and see him. If they have invited you I think its fair to say that he is being well looked after!
