Going to take up knitting

Quite often the 'right' horse finds its way to you.. Often not what you intended getting as others will Testify!

Have you looked on nfed.co.uk? Most are not too far away from you and there might be a gem in amongst them!

I got my mare off NFED - she's lovely and perfect for me. Only the second horse I view and behaved impeccably each of the three times I viewed her. The only other horse I view was off NFED too, he was nice enough but didn't feel right ( I have a very reliable sixth sense when It comes to choosing horses).

I have just sold one of my horses but had the opposite problem, total idiots coming to see her/enquiring about her. She's a tb mare who's done bits of eventing and has been BS'ing with me. No time for her so very cheap for what she is, unfortunatley she is only 15.1-2 so most of the idiots enquiring about her was riding school teenagers who think they are amazing and their parents weren't much better either. Thankfully she has found an amazing home and is going tomorrow :)

If you are Oxford way what about Shane Walsh - a dealer around your way. have heard lots of good things about him from friends who bought and when I was horse hunting earlier this year I spoke to him and he was really helpful. he would have plenty in your budget range.
I ended up buying my new chap more locally in the end, as my budget was way lower than yours .

Like other who have posted already said, he was "the wrong colour, very green etc" not what I had started out looking for at all, but he sort of found me in the end :-)
so good luck with your search, the right one is out there!

You should look in Portugal - plenty of horses for well under your budget (including transport!). I can think of one in particular so PM me if you'd like details (not connected in any way to the seller, I wanted to buy him but then he was a she and with 8 boys it's not a good idea!).

Thanks for your replies, it did cheer me up :)

SarahW - I lived and worked as a rider in Portugal, call me a cynic but I don't ever do cheap Luso's. *Ducks and heads for cover* but that's just me.

So an update to the saga...

I have emailed about the large palomino jumping the slightly dangerous jump lol. We'll see what happens there.

A girl phoned me yesterday had a long chat with her, horse seems perfect agreed to go and view him this morning, she'll text me her address. Then heard nothing. Text and emailed her. Nothing. Sigh.

Few more overpriced ones I phoned about. Sound great on paper, call the owner up got sarcoids, doesn't like dressage, doesn't jump over 80cm but we still want 6.5k...

Tried lowering the budget. Nobody has got back to me.

There was another horse, that I saw before the others. Possibly going to risk getting shouted at as I know they are on the forum, but hey ho. Opinions please...
TB, rehomed off the track. The girl who owns is has done a fantastic job so far, I was impressed. She's got him fairly balanced, steady and soft. He needs to get a lot stronger behind and come together but at least she's not tried to 'hold him together' and force him. His biggest problem is he's very weak and she wanted 6k for him. He also had a few ex-racer health problems, I'll let you all figure those out they aren't major but he will require a certain amount of extra maintenance for the rest of his life. I did make a cheeky offer, which she refused. But I've noticed he's now reduced....
