A friend has told me about a "lovely, speedy, cheeky" 13.3hh called Monty who jumps well and wants a 3 day/week sharer. This is him:

I absolutely love duns and am a little blinded by his cuteness at the mo, I'll have to see what he's like tomorrow. He's £100/month, plus shoes - seems reasonable in the South East. I have slight reservations about the yard he's on, but as well as bad opinions I have heard good ones from the two people I know who are there at the mo, so I will go and see for myself.

Any thoughts? picture isn't particularly informative, I know, I'll try and get some tomorrow without annoying the owners!

He looks lovely but I would say that IMHO £100 a month plus shoes is expensive...if you're paying for shoes does that mean the owner won't be riding on the roads and therefore wearing the shoes down?

Just be a bit careful - I was asking for that for my boy and it included shoes etc.

Let us know how you get on! He looks like a sweetie.

good luck and fingers crossed. sharing seems so much money these days but in comparison with owning, dont look a gift horse in the mouth as they say. he looks absolutely gorgeous, im the south east, whereabouts are you??

Yep I'll ask lots of questions about what's involved - my parents will pay some but I have to make a significant contribution, so I want to know it's worth it!

As thewonderhorse said, compared to owning it's nothing, and due to school etc owning is not an option at the moment - can't afford full livery but can't get out of London often enough for anything else - so this might be a good option.

What a cutie!! Does seem expensive to me too, but maybe thats because things are generally more expensive down south? Find out what the £100 covers though, I probably spend about that much on my horse each month on average so does seem quite a lot just for 3 days!

Well, he's in Epsom, but the way the train lines work means the journey's quite short, and I have two ex SL friends who also go to the yard and would get the same trains as me, which is great.

will let you know how it went this eve.
