Going to yard straight from work, what do you wear?

This! Although make sure you’ve got some trainers or something because walking to the car in jods and heels isn’t the most fun (or attractive) thing.

I’ve done my share of getting changed in the stable/toilet but that’s obviously very yard-specific and always ends up with my socks covered in shavings.

The amount of times I have done this is embarrassing, though I have now learnt to embrace the look XD

I get changed in the yard toilet, or if that is occupied, my lorry.

If I'm not riding I keep a pair of jogging bottoms and a spare coat at the yard and put them on over the top. If I'm riding I'll change either in the toilet at the yard or, if it's quiet, in the tack room. I prefer the tack room as the toilet is tiny and normally at least one of the farm dogs insists on coming in there with me. I'm normally last up so tack room is fine, but I do have to change into a sports bra so it adds a certain jeopardy!

It never occurred to me to use my trailer, but I might now, although it might be tricky in the dark.

I just tell anyone in the vicinity (especially my male sharer) I am about to get changed in tack room and get on with it. He definitely comes no where near until I reappear in work clothes!

It depends what I'm doing. Work clothes tend to be leggings and dresses, so I hoik my dress up and chuck a hoodie on and that does for a quick visit. Anymore and I get changed at work or occasionally in the tack room. Over trousers and the like just make me horribly clammy!

tallyho, bit chilly in winter, surely?

If I am planning to ride, I either change in my office or in the tack room. Otherwise, I just change into paddock boots. Unless it's dry and it's a fly-by, drop-buckets-over-fence-and-retrieve-when-empty day. Sometimes when it's wet, I regret not changing. And I have gone to one or two staff meetings in jodhs...

anyone got any thoughts on whether a waterproof material would keep smell out more than fabric? I'm only outside for a couple of minutes so unlikely to get too wet! And i'd have thought fabric less slippy than waterproof.

I'm all about the over trousers! Or PJ's. I always wear dresses to work with tights so add PJ bottoms/over trousers and a big old paramedic coat that we have over the top to turn out and muck out with in a morning. Evening I go home to feed the cats on the way to the yard so get changed at home :)
