Anyone ever done this. I always really enjoy the day and I really fancy going, but everyone I normally go with is busy or too skint.

I'd get a silver VIP ticket I think and think I'd move around quicker so get to see more. Just not sure I'd completely enjoy the day. I'd be on my own but surrounded by other people!! A bit odd maybe.

Who else is going?

You'll be fine! I like going to places on my own - it means you can go to all the shops you want, see all the displays you want and go to your own schedule. :) I don't think you'll feel awkward or lonely - there's too much to do and things to see!

I haven't been on my own but would do if I had no one to go with - it's too good to miss! I think you'll be just fine, you'll be distracted by everything that's going on and will be able to spend as much time browsing as you want without feeling as though you should be moving on when the people you're with get fed up! x

Honestly, I'd rather go on my own, maybe meet a mate for coffee, but last time I went, we split up anyway as some wanted to see one demo, me another. It worked well, but had I been alone, I'd have wasted no time debating it!

I'd rather go on my own! All your time is yours, you can spend it wherever you like, without having to worry if the other person is happy/bored/needs the loo lol :) x

Yeah I like going places on my own too. I went to the Olympics on my own, as my oh has just reminded me. It was fab. It's just I normally go for a bit of a social day out with one of 2 people both are busy and other friends are skint. I bought a silver ticket and I'm planning what I want to see trade stand wise. V excited now.

Yes, I've been there on my own at least twice. No problems whatsoever, in fact I think I prefer it for the shopping. You can take all the time you like for mooching!

I will have the OH in tow again, although I would actually prefer to go on my own, as I would enjoy it more and wouldn't have to listen to the "why are you looking at that"? for most of the day !!!!

I help out a friend at shows a handful of times a year, we let each other away for her stand so we can have a break. I really enjoy wandering and looking at the stands on my own now, more time to ponder potential purchases, more time to watch the classes which interest me without worrying about anyone else :)

I was going to go by myself, but then my friend said she wanted to go :)
She's a great friend, so I'm excited that I'm going with her.

However, I LOVE going to Olympia by myself (but as I can't afford that) YHL is my new thing :P

I admire you for choosing to go alone. I'd love to go but got no one to go with so missing out.... Same with olympia :(

You should try it :D
I never used to go anywhere alone, but one day I wanted to go to London to see Jackie Chan, but no one was around to come with me, so I went alone. I now prefer doing stuff by myself most of the time :)
Sometimes it is better to do it with friends, but alone is just as good :D

I'm contemplating going (alone) just working out transport logistics as I don't have a car atm. I went to the olympics on my own and it was fine, I think being alone is even less of an issue when theres shopping tbh!

I go on my own every year, always bump into people I know, catch up over a coffee and then back to the important task of shopping!

Take a leap dream to own. I first went on my own to watch the Olympic dressage Kur, and got to watch Charlotte and Valegro do that lovely test and make dressage history. I was jumping around screaming and hugging people I had only just met!!! It was amazing.

For me yhl felt different as I normally go with one of 2 people and neither can go. But there's so much to do there the time will be filled and there will be no waiting around. Last year we had my friend's little boy and buggy. Nightmare!!! Much better this year just on my own. I can't wait now I'm very excited.

I often go alone to stuff, I've been to Burghley alone the past two years.
As others have said you can just look at what you want to see, shop where you want to shop and leave when you've had enough!
I'm thinking about going to YHL this year for the first time and ill probably be alone!

Well if anyone wants to meet up I'd be happy to. I'm excited now and I'm not sure why I had felt weird initially. With a toddler you don't get much time to yourself to do exactly as you like. I'm very excited now!!!

I prefer to go to places like YHL on my own, it means I get to be selfish, do what I want and not worry about others!

I used to go in a group of three. By the time we'd decided which demos to see, which stalls to check out, when to stop for something to eat etc etc we'd have lost a lot of time just faffing about!

I don't go anymore but if I did, I think solo is a good way to go! Definitely better than with a toddler (especially if he/she is not your own!). What's wrong with a ME day occasionally!!

I preferred Olympia the year I went when I didn't have a horse (I previously had a TB/WB who forever needed stuff!) as there was more time to watch the classes, watch the demonstrations and chill out over a coffee/champagne rather than the mad dash to get everything you need at the best price etc.

Now, I have a native pony, it's a lot like not having a horse when it comes to shopping at Olympia as most of the stuff is entirely pointless for a hardy, pleasure ridden only native pony :D

I'm not planning on spending loads at YHL, but heard the shopping is epic, so who knows?! X

I've been on my own the last two years, and enjoyed them both! Met up with friends there, and spent time mooching around on my own and chatting to the stall holders. This year I am going with 8 friends, so a bit different! We will all split off I imagine though and do our own things.

To those of you who are going.

I've posted on other threads that I fostered an RSPCA gypsy cob youngster as weaning companion to my homebred filly. She's gone back to the RSPCA now to find her forever home.

I've just heard from the rescue centre that Lucky Charm is going to YHL as one of three RSPCA equines! So anyone who is going, please look out for a gorgeous 13hh 3 year old piebald cob filly and give her a special hug from me! She is a complete dude with noisy machinery etc, loves people and I'm sure will have a ball!
