So, at 6am i awoke......in old money.....so 7am really because of the clock change....and decided i couldn't be ar$ed getting out of bed for the 'baby' classes
We went up to the yard around 10:30am with the view of OH taking Trike out for a hack in the woods while i got Bo ready to go to GC for the bigger classes at the end of the day
We arrived at GC at 12:15.....to find the lorry park all but empty
They were just finishing the Discovery...and i had intended to jump the 1.10m and 1.15m with Bo....there was a 1.05m scheduled to start at 12:45pm. I duly entered the 1.10m and 1.15m but was the only entry at the time....so left it open that i would switch to the 1.05m if not enough people turned up
It ended up that we did jump the 1.05m Open 2-phase......and the nappy little git had his usual strop....coming into the first fence...and then jumped a perfect clear round ! There were only 2 clears and if the g1t hadn't napped he'd have been placed
He jumped the rest of the course superbly...
The 1.10m came next and it wasn't big, but it is tight at GC so there was no room for error. Nap out of the way, he proceeded to jump a lovely clear...one of only four in the class. We were drawn lat to go and a clear was enough to place us, so that's what we did
Second place was good enough for us
We were beaten by a Grade A speed horse who 'usually' whizzed around 1.30m's
In the end they did run the 1.15m, and we decided to have a crack. Bo jumped pretty well, and we were just unlucky to knock one pole out, so weren't placed
I had entered the class as it was a qualifier for the Area ABC Final in July, and there are just three more chances to qualify after today. We had to go clear and finish in the top 5 to qualify but failed due to the pole down, but it's looking good for the future qualifiers.
All in all, a good day was had
