My boy's eyes get easily irritated, especially by flies. There are less about at the mo but his eyes are still runny and I think he may have a slight infection.

A woman at my yard suggested I try golden eye ointment since her horse's eyes are easily irritated and clears up with the use of this ointment. Has anyone heard of this?

yep golden eye ointment is for humans but it works exactly the same and just as well on horses at a fraction of the costs involved on the same stuff from your vet with a different name to do the same job.
We use it at the yard for exactly the same reasons and it works really well.

Also known as Brolene (sp)

Have just used it for my doggies red eyes and they are all better now!!

Also you can now buy Chloramphenicol (sp) over the counter, which is for conjunctivitis... good for guinea pig eye ulcers!!
