Well my girl did keep us on our toes! And yes she did foal early - I knew she was going to, LOL!! Thankfully she was thoughtful enough to wait until we had finished putting our mammoth amount of hay in the barn.

So this evening at 6pm Golden foaled a lovely little filly. The birth was text-book case, took no longer than about 5 minutes and Golden is fine and the foal is lovely. I am very pleased.

I'll get some better photos tomorrow but these will have to do for the moment. The foal was just born in this photo.

And about 15 minutes later:

Congratulations, that is brilliant! I am so pleased that everything went OK and that they are doing well! Obliging of her to have it during the day.

Shouting now! IS THAT A PALOMINO??

You thought she was having a filly didn't you?

I have just showed Evie the photos, and apart from "Eeeeugh-ing" at the blood, she said that Golden looks sooooo much like Zeus!

Hope all continues to go well, and looking forwards to the updates.

It looks lovely weather for foaling, and a nice foal.
the weather here continues to be strange, one minute it's sunny, next pouring with rain whilst the sun continues to shine!
You may just turn into a palomino fan at this rate

Oh Tia, I'm so pleased for you (especially after all the worry)! She is absolutely stunning, no wonder you are so pleased! Congratulations to you and Golden

You do know your horses so well, I hadn't a clue about my 2 but you just knew when both of yours were going to have their foals.

Did the nail test lie to you too for your second foal? It said Bramble was going to have a colt and she had a filly. I think you said the nail test said a colt?

Do you have a name yet? Is she a keeper?

Thanks for PMing me

Yes apologies for all the blood; she had only just foaled there and still had the afterbirth hanging out of her. Golden stood up immediately after the foal was born so the blood came from the severed umbilical cord.

You know, I think some of you may be right - palomino's do seem to have caught my interest finally LOL!! How bizarre.

She doesn't have a name yet - this filly will be registered so she needs a posh name. We haven't come up with this name yet but have an idea of where we are going with it.

Unfortunately this filly was sold in-utero (of course it's always the owners prerogative to change her mind isn't it?!

).

Yep the nail test was right with the first filly but wrong on this one - same as with you Claire

. You can't believe how happy I am to have this foal on the ground - I was so worried about Golden and I can tell you I slept well last night knowing it was out of her finally!

Congratulations Tia!!!

I envy all of you that are able to have foals! I cannot wait until I am able to have that experience! Until now I will just live through my aunt and you all! lol

My geldings are quite happy with no babies around! lol
