Hi
I'm new here and am bringing my 'oldie' out of semi retirement this year and back into some local shows.

He's part arab and part thoroughbred and despite being at least 26 years old acts more like a 4 year old. He's looking amazingly well (even if i am biased!) and has no dips above his eyes, no sunken back and next to no grey hairs, still charges round the field with our 4 year old too so i'm hoping he's going to well at some veteran classes this year!

Was just wondering if there are any other oldies out there? and how they're doing

Emma

Hi and welcome to the forum. Your oldie sounds great

how about some pics? I don't have an oldie myself (oldest one of mine is 20, and still acts like a youngster), but was at a local show recently and it was great to see so many fantastic looking veterans and super veterans - I'm sure you'll have fun with your chap and he will enjoy going out and about again. I was hacking out yesterday and bumped into a friend on her 27 year old mare - still snorting and spooking at things

Hi! I'm also new here!!

I have a golden oldie!! Her names Annie, grey 12.2 Welsh Arab. Not toally sure of exact age but Dentist reckons somewhere between 30 - 33! She's retired much to her disgust! She's too strong to have little people on her (as she still thinks she's 4yo!) I've had her for 15 years (since i was 7) hopefully sort some pics for you soon!!

Just to say 'Hi' to CurlyEm and Scranny Ann

and 'welcome to the forum'. It will be great to see pics of your 'golden oldies' when you can post them, and to hear more about you.

I have a 22 year old Connemara X myself, who still looks great for his age (and hasn't grown up at all in the eleven years I have owned him!

Hi

I'm pretty new myself! Knew I shouldn't have joined, can't get me off here now

I have have a wonderful golden oldie, he's pure bred Arab (there's a theme forming here with all these Arabs!) he's 29 and I've had him 20 years. He also acts like a 4 year old - more than the 4 year old does! He's brilliant fun, does have a baggy back unfortunately but is still ridden, not shown. He's being a complete tart with the mares at the mo - haven't seen him in 3 days, can't get near

at least he's happy

Hi & welcome!

Nice to hear of all these golden oldies still going strong!

The grey in my sig below (pics taken 2007) is now 24yrs old, an ex racer and still competing in showing and dressage. He is fresh as paint at the moment, even trying to ditch me out hacking last night by spooking and spinning at everything!

Good luck with the veteran classes!

Exracers - He is gorgeous!

Annie is looking really well at the moment, she's not the easiest to keep weight on but looking a little porky at the min which is nice! Hoping for some nice weather this weekend so i can give her a bath!

I have a 33 year old grey,Connie x tb, 15.1hh, I have had her on loan for the past 18 years, My friend bought her as a 2 year old, when she lived in Scotland, & bought her down to Kent in a top less trailer in the late 70s when she moved here. She did dressage up to Med/Advanced , when I took her on loan we did all sorts of riding club stuff & working Hunters, She is now retired, but busy nannying my new yearling, I have to say over the past 2 years she has really started to look her age, but she is happy & still dominate mare! is was 13 when I took her on im now in my 30s were did all the time go?

yep ive got 4 oldies non of whom think they are old and only 1 of whom looks old.

This is pride my 25 yearold pony still in full work and still competeing (this is him when he was 23 as ive no ridden pics from last year)

Dan is 22 now, but he's pretty much retired due to lameness. i'm hoping with more rest he might be ok to come back and do in-hand veteran classes though as he looks really well for his age. he was 20 in the pics in my signature.
