Yep, keep em in a shed all their lives then dump them when they're done making money for you. Not an ounce of muscle anywhere and muscle wastage because they are never exercised, often health issues and some seriously prolapsed females.
Then the poor sods in rescue have to spend weeks and months getting them used to 'normal' lives, you know, cars, people, attention, being brushed, grass, trees, beaches, loud noises, kitchens, bathrooms and often, daylight
This is what you fund when you buy a puppy from a puppy farm or a pet shop.
Years ago my Mum found 5 Westies running down the lane. They were all bitches, obviously of varying ages and they all had stitches the length of their tummies
She caught most of them but it tooks days and days of leaving food out for another which was hiding in the woods before she could catch it.
They had almost certainly been dumped from a van (van seen at time) and without doubt from a puppy farm
My mother found homes for all the dogs but kept the very timid one - which she still has today
ETA: there is a collie near the bottom of that site that I am going to show my son when he gets home.
Kitty, I have my fingers crossed really tightly for you, he really jumped out at me too, as did all his littermates! x
A lot of those places have very tight guidelines on paper and online but do look at individual circumstances.
I haven't even applied TBH I am a bit *meh* because I will get annoyed if I don't pass (thats a bit silly isn't it?) maybe i will apply but i can't see them wearing the Lil not being spayed thing...i wonder if its wrong to rehome a rescue dog under false pretences..?
Obviously I don't know how MT works, but I would think its worth applying, most rescues seem to be flexible about prospective owners. Their criteria is very strict to make people think long and hard before taking on a dog, but they are often open to negotiation. In your position I would definitely apply.
