We have just bought a lovely young horse by Golden River Irish sport horse and i would love to see some photo's of this stallion.I can't find anything yet and would appreciate any info and pictures.

Have you any photo's of Riverbank.I just love going into our horses heritage and like to amass as much as i can. It's the equine form of "who do you think you are".

Fantastic to find someone else with a Golden River offspring! I brought a young mare over from Ireland several years ago - Corrie River Blue, aka "Betty" - whose sire is Golden River, and I did some detective work to find out more about him at the time.

He died about two years ago now, and was owned by Jack Murphy. He didn't cover that many mares in Ireland, but was highly respected for his ability on the hunting field, and led the hounds out at the Royal Dublin Show over a number of years.

We have several photos of him that Jack Murphy sent over, and the friend who now owns Betty has them - if you PM me I'll ask her to forward them to you. I'm sure that she would love to see photos of your Golden River offspring as well!

Betty is a cracking little mare, with a gret jump on her, and has bred a couple of lovely foals. She has a yearling by Balou Star (Balou du Rouet) and is currently in foal to Denver (Berlin x Indoctro)

I met Jack Murphy not long after Golden River had died, when I bought a TB mare from Peadar Murphy at Cullintra Stud. Golden River stood for a couple of years at Drumhowan Stud, I think, in the north of the Republic.

Thanks for that information, for a while there i thought i'd drawn a blank. Our horse is called Finlay and he is six and showing so much talent.Apparantly there was a bidding war on him at the sales in Ireland but then a similar horse eased the pressure. We have yet to name him on the passport and i thought about "golden river Finlay",but my daughter is not sure about that.I like the name Finlay and don't want to change it.I will try to PM to get some photos of Golden River.

I had a nice mare years ago, cow to catch, but a nice mare to ride, sane sensible, jumped a bit but lacked stride, but couldnt fault her, had great fun with her.
