So bought my cob mare 2.5 months ago, mainly for hacking. She's mainly hacked in her previous home but also schooled and they did have a couple of pics of her jumping, prob around 50/60cm with rider and one of her free jumping around 1m. When she first arrived I schooled her and as a small jump was up in the paddock we school in (prob 40cm straight) I popped her over it, she seemed keen, no issues. Have repeated this a couple of times since and all good.
Then last week I took her in a different field where some jumps were set up, from the off she refused, I don't know why. Did manage to get her over a small X pole just so we finished on a positive and then hacked round the village instead. The ground seemed a bit softer in there and obviously a different paddock so didn't think too much of it. So Sunday I schooled in our usual riding paddock, tried her over the same jump we've been doing since she got here, she refused twice so I got off and lead her over it, she over jumped but otherwise fine. And so I left it there for now.
So does anyone have any suggestions what the issue may be? I've recently had teeth, bit and back checked so pretty sure there's no issue there. I don't see that anything has happened to make her lose confidence. Do I just start from scratch, poles etc and slowly increase height. Or do I leave it a few weeks before trying again. I mean it's not a massive issue I'm not planning on turning her into a showjumper but I thought originally she enjoyed it and it seemed a good way to vary our schooling sessions. Thoughts anyone?

Do you have an instructor? If not find a good one. They can watch and advise. But I think a vet check is in order. Could be her teeth, back, saddle needing refitting, any number of things.

Is there a chance that you have given her a hard time over a fence? Gotten left behind and caught her in the mouth or something?
