Good 3.5 ton horseboxes? Recommendations/warnings here!

Hi all, I'm looking to buy a 3.5 ton horsebox that I can buy and wondered if any kind HHOs had any recommendations or warnings? Have had a look at a few, liked the Bloomsfield lorry and wasn't that impressed with the Equitrek version.

What does everyone else have?

My experience with Bloomfields has been extremely positive and new wheels should be ready next march. Really well built with excellent attention to detail and safety. There are no end of dodge ones out there so pls be careful :-)!!

Racemaster, had it 4 years from New build and been great. More basic build than some but safe and horses love it. current service has unveiled a wiring issue it's hard to get in to fix which is annoying but you might get that with any build. What's the payload of Bloomsfield?

Payload on mine should be between 1100 and 1200kg, depends which model you have though.
 
I've got an E-reg VWLT35 and I love it. It looks scruffy as anything but I bought it with only 67,000 miles on the clock and it's started every time all winter, even when it was -4C and hadn't been out for a week and a half, it's brilliant :)
 
I have a Ford Transit based one. It is extremely basic: no groom's area at all, just a huge tack locker accessible from the back, that in the horse area forms a solid block with a shelf at nose height: nothing there for a horse to climb over. It is very reliable, and appears to be very stable when travelling. Only disadvantage is that the ramp is quite high. I'm not sure who did the conversion, but I think it may have been a one-off.
 
I have a Marlborough Cob and have been very pleased with it - good solid build, travels my 2 ponies really well. I could do with getting something a bit bigger with day living but Im worried about part-exing in case the new one isnt as reliable ! :)
 
I don't think she's got a Boss - think its a PRB? From what I remember she wasn't impressed with the Boss - thought it was a bit flimsy? But I'm sure she'll correct me if I'm wrong!!
 
We have a Bloomfield and love it - they will pretty much build to your spec - in our case that means full partition to the tack area (with full height door), two external lockers that carry a huge amount of feed, buckets, skips, grooming and washing gear, large tack area to fit two specialist saddle racks for western saddles, generous space for rather long horsey, three opening windows and extraction fan, plus they went out of their way to find us a low mileage chassis. It wasn't cheap, but we travel long distances to shows and tow a caravan behind it, plus horsey is a bit of a thug, so it needed to be right!
Friend has a Boss and loves it to bits - she has crew cab so she can sleep on the bench seat. Again not cheap, but if you can save up, they are worth it!
Have heard good things about Alexanders and we have actually been impressed with the Equitreks we've seen, but didn't feel they were right for us.
 
I have a Regent 2 and love it.

I also loved the look Bloomfields but have heard of one or two things failing on them, the worse being the "glass window" between the horses and the living shattering while it was being driven. Would make me think twice about them now.
 
I can travel 2 x 14.2hh cobs in mine -renault master with 1200 kg payload.

Heightwise it would take a 16.1hh but would then struggle to carry anything else other than a pony.
