good and bad news !

firstly the bad news
my sisters pony was having a fantastic show season just missing hoys and olimpia quailifaications with silly mistakes.

anyway she keep her 2 ponies at the riding school were she works anyway one of the lievarys brought a new pony and 10 days later this pony went down with strangles all efferts where made to stop any of the other ponies getting it but 4 more went down with it 2 of which were my sisters this was back at the beguing of august these ponies were put in strict isolation and have been treated including seeing a vet at least once a week any way today they were scoped everyone including vet was certain they would begiven the all clear BUT my sisters pony is still full of puss ! the vet is going to start a new corse of treatment with very strong drugs .

The good news is that 2 of my mares were scanned in foal today yay !

if anyone is studying strangles we have some very good photos of what are vet has decribed as an interesting case of strangles ! we are also willing to help with case studies ect

mine has just recovered from strangles and was scoped yesterday so now what you are going through, my very is scepitcal thats she will come back clear because she still has mucas in her left gutteral pouch. we were very lucky and only mine got it.

what sort of drugs are they using on yours? mine was only on bute as i was told that antibiotical can induce barstard strangles?

they started on just bute but because we have a extremely difficult case two of them have needed penicillin one of these ponies had an absess on her nearve this has parolised down one side off her face.

the vet is going to start a new treatment this week will let you know ! because she has had no abesses's , snot or raised temp for yhe last 5 weeks.
