I had intended to edit my ealier post but with the change to New Lounge 2 couldn't do it.

Brief background, my Show Trekka L suffered a tire blow-out on the dual carriageway and we discovered that the tires had been wearing unevenly on the front axle. When we had it inspected, we found that both axles were broken.

This is also when I found out I had purchased an older version Equi-Trek with a 2600kg gross weight rather than the newer 3000kg gross weight. This meant I had been very close to or possibly exceeding the trailer payload without knowing it.

Since my trailer, once repaired, would not have the capacity to comfortably take my two horses, I looked into my options and ordered another Equi-Trek. I looked into other manufacturers as well but no other trailer with living has the capacity to take two large horses. In the meantime, the dealer I had my old trailer with had tried unsuccessfully to source new axles.

I sent an email to Equi-Trek who called me back the next day. Two days later, they collected my trailer and took it back to their yard. This afternoon, they delivered it back to me with the axles repaired free of charge.

Thanks to Equi-Trek for this! I am now back on the road and feel much better about having bought a second trailer from them.

'tis good, i think

blimmin heck. see if they were good like this all of the time then they wouldn't have such a bad rep. when my axle snapped they repaired it FOC...but i suspect that this was because it was a faulty axle in the first place and they were covering their backs....

diggerbez, I think they have learned from their mistakes. My axles may well have been faulty, but we didn't get into that!

MrsMozart, I did buy this trailer new in 2007. Unfortunately, it does not have the payload to take my two horses, so I'll use it for transporting one only until my new one is ready.

This is probably a word of warning for people with Show Trekka's...the L version has been made with two different gross weights. Mine was the earlier 2600kg model but the information available when I bought it was for the later 3000kg version. I wonder how many people are at or over the limit for these trailers without knowing it. I will certainly check the axle weights on any trailer I take receipt of in the future.
