good dealers

Can anyone recommend a good honest dealer to buy a sensible horse for hacking where the horses will be as described. They seem to be few and far between but there must be some out there.

The guy who advertises in H&H under horse wanted in the Milton Keynes/Bedford area seems quite responsible, is very careful about the horses he buys in.

Some riding schools/ trekking centres sell horses off at the end of the season - might be worth making some enquiries locally.

I bought Murphy from Alderoot in Cheshire. I dont know about ALL the horses they sell, but Murphy has been perfectly as described and will hack til the cows come home. We pass artics and tractors, kids and bikes and he doesnt bat an eyelid. He will look at a plastic bag though lol but I dont believe there's such a thing as bombproof - if so, then you just havent found the thing that scares them yet!! lol

Buy locally as then people will know the real reason the horse is being sold and it's temprement and medical history.
Put some wanted adverts up in your local tach shops/feed merchants/livery yards. Ask local farriers, riding instructors and vets.
Dealers very rarely know the true history of the horses theycare selling.

i visited a large dealer in wiltshire last year and i was most annoyed, he tried selling me a green cob for 5000, my hubby laughted thinking he was joking, so i asked to try it out and wen i sat on he bolted with me , and i mean i was gone 4 ten mins, wen i got bk, he laugh and said i rode well concidering he was fresh, after i got my jelly legs off, i continued to view, and caught him telling a member of staff well thats him broke in now. i didnt stay ...... buyer beware.....

Adrian came from a dealer in Watford & was 110% as described. I can't find fault with him. This dealer also found horses for some children who were deaf-mutes (I hope that's not a politically incorrect term but I can't think how else to put it) & they were suitable too.
