Let's brag about our dogs ... you know you want to.

I'll start :D.

This morning I dropped Dakota's extending lead while we were out in the woods. Now, usually not a great thing as he's all beagle recall-wise and has the social issues of the former recluse he once was, but even worse when he is in full flight like he was this morning running after something they'd all heard. I was in full flight too, BTW, it's how I make it up to him that he can't go off the lead. So for some reason I lose the lead, it falls clean out of my hand, and he carries on in full fight after the other two. I call him back in a loud panicky tone and what does he do? He stops dead and sits down and looks back at me. I go to put my foot on the lead and exclaim "good boy" as I do which he takes as a sign that he can take off after the other two again - before I've got my foot on the lead well enough to stop him. So off he barrels and I have to cry out his name again in a panicky tone and once more he stops dead and sits down looking at me again, ignoring the fact that the other two are still in full flight. Now, they are the trustees who are off the lead but I'm not sure that even they would stop dead in full flight and sit down and certainly not as quickly as he did. I managed this time to get him back and to reward him we took off again in another run to catch up to the others. I just can't believe what a good boy he was.

He therefore gets my Good Dog of the Day Award and an unlimited supply of belly rubs for the rest of the day. Here he is being cute:

So, who is your Good Dog of the Day? Let's hear why and see those pics ... :).

My good dog of the day;
My daughter had a friend over to play after school. Said friend is very nervous of dogs, so GD (good dog) walks over to friend, head low, tail quietly waggy, and sits down by said friend. She couldn't have been quieter with her if she tried. Friend managed to give her a stroke, which is a huge leap for her. GD, then went back to her bed. She didn't hastle or bother the children for the next 2 hours, even including children running around in the garden, she just sat out of the way and watched.
Good Dog.

Both my boys have been good dogs today, by playing nicely with no snapping and mad barking (I have my no-nonsense friend and a rolled-up newspaper to thank for the initial groundwork :p :o) which is a big step forward.
B for helping mum get 22lbs off and being slimmer of the month at Slimming World :D
G for generally being very good despite his numpty excuse for a handler and totally ignoring a Big Dead Fish on the beach today after his mad fit the other week :)
No recent pics of either but here is G 'helping' mum cook - he loves helping with things... - and having a fun time on mammy's bed :p

It's hard to believe that Floofy is anything but good :). Congrats to your mum too on her weight loss and an extra belly rub for B for helping her. Good dogs all round :).

Flodden did not go in my swamp pond, did not eat the dead pigeon and did not stalk the cats today :) thats a good day at the moment!

Sometimes being a good dog is relative to said dog's normal activities :). One of my others went muddy puddle belly surfing on the same walk this morning. Bad dog :(.

:D :D :D

Actually, that gives me an idea for another thread because I really don't mind mine getting muddy at all - in fact I take it as a sign of a good walk. Two out of the three of my dogs agree :).

Definitely a good dog! I love how some dogs are clever enough to sense when someone is nervous and change their actions accordingly to put them at ease.

Storm my 11 week old pup was a very good dog today. Let her off at the football/ dog walking field (1st time she's been off lead outside the garden) with my old girl Tess whose recall is non existent (she does her own thing and comes back in her own time and never goes out of view thankfully). Anyway Storm's recall was amazing. She went off with Tess away across the other side, but came hurtling back as soon as I called :D Tess just stood and looked at me then promptly ignored me :p
I wish I had taken my camera, but it wasn't a planned thing really. Park was empty so figured it was as good a time as any.
